has anyone stayed at the borgata or the waterclub in atlantic city?
I want to do something different this year for my bday, I have never been to atlantic city before and I figured that since we are only about an hour away it will be nice to drive up for the weekend. I am torn between the borgata and the waterclub, we are looking for a nice hotel for some r & r for two days, they both have a special going on. any suggestions? of course the water club is a tad bit more expensive but I want to splurge for my bday, we are going to be going the week after chirstmas as my bday is 12/26
TIA
Re: has anyone stayed at the borgata or the waterclub in atlantic city?
I stayed at the Borgata with MH. It was a very nice room and a lot better than most of the older AC hotels. I did not stay at the Waterclub so I can't speak on that. If the price difference is negligible, then I'd stay at the Waterclub. They have their own lobby and own set of elevator banks, so it's definitely set apart from the regular Borgata area. If the price difference is substantial, I'd stay at the Borgata and use the difference towards spa treatments at either the Borgata or the Waterclub. Unfortunately, I did not visit either spa but I'm sure you can't go wrong at either place. I think the Waterclub had a pool and its own separate fitness center, and you could probably hang out there all day, etc.
I would suggest shopping and dining at the Pier shops at Caesar's. The stores are upscale and they have trendy and hip restaurants on the highest floor, the Continental and Buddakan. Also there's a cute little Japanese place across the way if you like sushi. If you come from a state that has sales tax on clothing and shoes, go shopping in AC. No sales tax on either!
Happy Birthday!

We stayed at The Water Club for DH's 40th last year. We had the "nicer" room. I forget what it's called but it was a corner room and was ver nice. I loved the indoor pool area. If it's open during when you are going, definitely bring a bathing suit. It was very relaxing.
I can't remember where we ate but we really enjoyed the whole place and hope to go back soon (maybe for my bday in a month!)
ETA: DH went to the spa (I had a cold so any treatments weren't worth it for me) and he loved it.
I stayed at the Borgata this summer and have to agree that you do hear everything in the halls. Other than that, I thought the room was great. When I walked into the Waterclub I had a crazy allergy attack from the flowers in their lobby but it wouldn't stop me from staying there!
I personally have never stayed at Borgata but I've had friends who stay there every time they're in town (we live ~20 minutes from AC in Mays Landing) so we're down there pretty often. They're both great places to stay if you want to relax, hit up the spa (my friend swears by their spa!) and enjoy a nicer AC experience. Borgata is definitely the pretty casino in town!
As far as the Pier at Caesar's goes, it was just sold in bankruptcy court, and a lot of the restaurants and stores have been leaving as a result. Check before heading over there that the stores you're looking for are still open. The Walk is right outside of Caesars on Michigan and is all outlet shopping and is really nice. It supposed to be rather nice here next week...a little rain but nothing too cold. Check Tanger outlets website for deals and coupons! You can also head down to Tropicana's Quarter for some nicer restaurants and a little shopping. There's also some restaurants on Atlantic Ave right by the walk (Ruth's Chris, Longhorn, Melting Pot, etc.). Hope this helps! Enjoy your birthday!
At sea, heading to Lisbon, Portugal
