Refundable Flights?

Does anyone know where I could go to book a flight that is refundable? It seems like every site i have been to thus far is non-refundable. I have to go to san antonio for H but his dates may change and I dont want to be stuck with tickets I cant use! TIA!

Re: Refundable Flights?

  • I know Delta's military line (you have to call) offers refundable, although I don't know how that would work with just BMT. They require orders to change the flight without a charge.

I also know southwest offers no fee to change the date of your flight.

  • DH and I had booked a flight to Florida through Travelocity (this was in June for September) and had to cancel for medical reasons, on his part. All we had to do was buy insurance when we booked everything and then file some paper work when we had to cancel. Just read the fine print because they majority require a minimum notice of some sort if your making changes.

  • I agree that southwest is the best bet.

Other airlines will charge you change fee, and often the change fee is so much it's not even worth it.

  • I think most of the major airlines offer "military fares" that you can only access if you call them up.

I've used these fares with American Airlines, and had no problem getting them to modify dates with no change fee.  I've never had to all-out cancel the military fares I have purchased from American, though.

  • Most airlines will offer non-refundable flights, no questions asked, but they're  just way more expensive than refundable ones.

  • American Airlines offers actual discounted military fares and many tickets are refundable. For other airlines like Delta, it's cheaper to just pay the change fee (usually $50) if you needed to instead of paying extra for the refundable flight. I once called Delta to inquire about their military tickets... the regular rate online was $350 and they quoted me $700 for a military ticket! Ridiculous.

We recently flew delta (beginning of oct) and it was $300 to change the flight and tht was just the fee not even te cost of the other flight

i looked into southwest, but because i live in south dakota i can not fly out from there. so i would either have to drive 6 hrs to denver or fly to denver then fly out of denver to san antonio. this stinks!
