The baby doesnt go back to the doctor for another 2 weeks- so I am not totally sure how much she weighs..i tried weighing myself while holding her and then without her and its so hard to tell how little difference there is- we dont have a working digital scale. So she was 7lbs 12oz at the last visit 2 weeks ago and seems to be growing well. Newborn diapers go to 10lbs.. I doubt shes there but I dont want to buy a costco size box of newborn diapers only to be stuck with a ton I wont be able to use. I got a ton of pampers from the hospital but I find them to be leaky and not as comfortable as huggies- I am almost done with the pampers supply.
I already ordered a box of 76 newborn huggies from amazon which we got this weds and were almost done with them. Would you reorder more newborn size? Also if you order online do you use diapers.com, amazon mom, costco or bjs?
last- do any huggies users use the green package- cant remember but they are supposed to have less chemicals?
Re: diaper question?
I really have never gone by weight. I go by how they fit her and absorbancy. My DD was in newborn diapers way beyond 10 lbs. Currently, she is 8 lbs lighter then the next size diaper but I am thinking of moving her up to seize 4 anyways because she drinks a lot more fluids and is leaking out of the size 3's.
I always buy mine at BJ's because we are there once a month anyways and get good prices there.
thanks. The newborn pampers are tight and we seem to have explosions whenever they are on..the huggies dont seem to cut off her legs and have room in the belly area to make them snug.
p.s. my amazon mom isnt working I think I waited too long to use it and I tried making a new email and rejoining and now there is a WAITLIST!
BJs didnt have any newborn diapers last week. I have a costco membership but dont want to waste a trip if they dont have them either
You can buy online from BJ's.
I think Amazon cut's off Mom sign up's over the holiday to stop people from getting free prime for holiday shopping.
I use Amazon Mom. I haven't been able to find better prices elsewhere. My 1 year free memebership expired but we signed up for Prime at $80 per year so we can keep the free 2 day shipping and you also get tons of other perks. We felt it was worth it.
Anywho...like everyone else said, I don't go by weight, I go by fit. Once I see that her diapers no longer fit her well (and lots of leaks are a big sign that you need to move up a size) I then buy a small package of the next size up and try them out. If they work, I officially start ordering the cases in the next size up.
When she was a newborn, up until about 3 months old I used Pampers baby dry. I switched to Luvs at 3 months and they work really well and are easily $10 less per case (sometimes more) than pampers and huggies. But I know some people who have tried them and hate them. We happen to love them. You just have to do a lot of trying and playing around with diaper brands to see which ones you like best.
Amazon mom is where I get everything. I received so many left overs from friends and diapers as gifts I only have bought C 1 package of newborns when we was born off amazon. She will be 4 months next week and I haven't bought a single diaper other than that box, I am proud of that!
I moved her up to 1s at 4 weeks maybe. Then switched to 1-2s that we received from friends I think they are BJs... she is out of them already but still fits in 1-2s from Pampers. We have a ton of them. After XMAS I have to restock I think.
I also go with fit over weight. Jack just got into a size 4, he is 19 months and 23lbs they are a little big, but I have a feeling she will be in size 3s within a few months and wanted them in different size diapers. She was 11lbs at 2 months.
I used to buy diapers from BJs as they were the cheapest...but Amazon Mom is slightly cheaper and I don't have to pay for gas to get to BJs.
We use Pampers...DD tried Huggies and she leaked alot with them.
I never bought newborn diapers. Started with Size 1.
