Who does the Christmas shopping?

Who does the Christmas shopping in your house?  You, your DH or did you split it?

I do it all!  DH sees everything sometimes.  Sometimes he is as surprised as the gift recipient.

What about you?

Re: Who does the Christmas shopping?

  • I do most because I have more free time. This year, we did one shopping trip together  and H was out for a bit shopping for my gift this morning and picked up a few things for M too.

We don't split though as in he only buys for his family and me for mine, it's pretty much who ever sees something that we think the receiver will like.

  • We did some shopping together and otherwise discussed what each person would get before purchasing it, even if I may have done most of the purchasing.
  • I do 99% of it.

DH rarely knows what we get anyone unless he thinks it would be fun to shop for that person--which is usually for the 9-15 year old boy cousins and he gets to test out the toys/video games.

I don't mind.  I think I'm an excellent gift giver and really enjoy shopping without the hubs anyway.

  • We each do our own, but this year that kind of bit me in the butt. He bought his gift for his niece through a dicey website and we've just been informed we are getting a refund for it through Paypal, so now I have to go shopping to get her something else. :(

  • Me. Especially from overseas. DH is the type who would go get gifts at the absolute last second. Doesn't work so well when far away since he can't seem to fathom the wrapping, packing, and shipping time.

  • I do 99% of it if needed. We tend to buy the gifts while travelling, almost everything this year was from India so we bought it together. If there's random stuff to still get (plus all the wrapping and whatnot!) I do it. If we have to mail a package though, that's all him since he works flexible hours. I really enjoy shopping and he doesn't at all so it works out fine.

  • Since we're living in two different countries, he shops for his family and I shop for mine and we put both our names on it. But once I am in the UK he will make me to all of it - but he's going to be the one paying so it works out : )
