Which shelter did you adopt your puppy from?

Re: *blissfullyignorant*

  • The Boulder Humane Society. He is really a sweet little guy. They got 30 puppies last week (holy smokes!). SO and I actually picked him out on Friday without playing with him. We put a hold on him and went back on Saturday to meet him and make sure he was a good fit. He was in the back and had just been fixed. We saw him through the kennel and fell in love. The vet tech said they were fixing more pups yesterday so they should be going up on their website today or possibly really early tomorrow morning. I think they're getting adopted out pretty quickly.

So far he is amazing. There have only been a couple of accidents. He likes to go outside. House training should be a breeze. He's very sweet and DS loves him.

  • I know I am not blissfullyignorant, but I adopted my pup 4 years ago from the Frisco animal shelter, right on the border or frisco and breck.

He is the best dog I could have asked for, has been the best addition to our family!

Here is a pic (he had a ski accident, hence the cast):

  • Oh my goodness he is so flipping adorable!

Thank you!  He is spoiled rotten, he is my only child so far ;)

  • Whew!  I'm so glad you adopted from Boulder Humane.  Like Pixy, KSun and I mentioned, there is a very, very bad shelter that 'adopts' out puppies that are usually very sick and come from puppy mills in New Mexico.  It's a really crappy situation.

    That is horrible :(

It is.  Really, really horrible which is why the three of us got worried.

  • I'm really relieved to read that :)

Which shelter is it, so I can inform others?  I have a friend interested in adopting after the holidays.

  • I believe they were last called P0udre Puppy Re$cue. They get shut down and re-open with a different name. They may be under another name now for all I know.
  • OMG. That's awful! I hadn't checked my PP until I read this. I had no idea. That's awful. I actually knew about the 12 week thing but I'm planning on socializing him well. There's a puppy group over in Longmont that meets every Saturday and requires the pups to show proof of immunizations that are age appropriate so it cuts down on the risk involved. They also give a 30 day health guarantee.

This is the new name I think.  Project badshelterR3x is the old name I believe.

I did send you a PM too but KSun covered it.

  • Thanks for the info, I still cannot believe how cruel people can be to animals, makes me sick :(

I'm pretty sure they're under the same name. I see them on the corner in a gas station parking lot at 14th and 287 a lot. It makes me so sad/angry.

  • There's actually another one up here that the vets are saying to steer clear of - A Pupp13s V01c3

Basically, anyone lurking, any shelter that is all puppies all the time is a very bad idea to "adopt" from.

A big old middle finger to you, stupid Nest.
