Sleeping through the night... woot!

If a 5 hour stretch technically qualifies as STTN, then I think with last night's 6 hour stretch I think I can say that Connor just STTN for the first time!

He will be 8 weeks on Tuesday and I go back to work full time on Monday so this makes me very excited!

We've had our issues with sleeping (deciding bedtime wasn't until 6 am, up every hour on the hour, not wanting to sleep on his back, only wanting to sleep on my chest...) so this is huge! I know it's not going to be a consistent thing yet, but I'll take it! Connor has been doing a great job working towards it though: for a while he was getting up twice a night to nurse (I was happy at that!), then for the past week he was getting up once per night (4 hours, nurse, 4 more hours of sleep), and last night was 6 hours, then he nursed and is now back to sleep.

Yay!

  • JEALOUS!

Ada WILL.NOT sleep on her back. The Rock N Play sleeper got us from 1-2 hour stretches to 3-4, but until last night (well this morning technically) when she slept from 12:30-6:50am, that was it...

Any advice on moving bedtime earlier? She really is just NOT ready usually til midnight/1am which is killer when K gets up at 5:30am to go to work all week.

  • Claire- Sarina showed us around 8-9 weeks that she was ready for bed earlier. When she hit 10 weeks, I really noticed that she was ready for bed at 730. Before that, she was still not ready to settle down into sleep for the night. I think she'll be going to sleep earlier before you know it!

I am guessing that at this point it will be hard to move up her bedtime. They are still so young and are on their own schedules yet - plus there are so many growth spurts that are messing with them too. Last night wasnt as great for us. Connor cluster fed from 8:30 until 12:30 and woke up at 3 and 6.

  • that's awesome jules. it was a world of difference when we started getting a 4 hour stretch with two sleeping babies (unfortunately it tends to be from 8-12 or so now, and i can't go to bed at 8 if i want to get anything done, but we still usually get at least two hour stretches of quiet from 12 onward).

claire i think the girls were about 8 w adjusted before they started going down for the night at 7 (hell, they're 15 w adjusted and are still up at least once and usually twice to eat - and take 3-5 oz each time- but not in the party time fashion they were...i'm hoping as we pass that 12 lb hump we can drop these overnight feedings).  Before we were able to do bedtime at 7 (which is more like 7:30 sleep) they tended to go down more solidly around 10 or 11. the early one was totally nap-style.

  • That's great news. Way to go Connor!!
