Today was good and bad.
The good: Turns out there is a reason for the itchy rash/hives (to the point I was bruising and bleeding from scratching) and phlegmy cough. Thankfully it can be easily treated.
The bad: Doc says it isn't contagious, but everything I read on line says it is, so I spent the day washing everything I wore since last laundry day, along with all the sheets and towels.
ETA: The Bad #2 - I had to get another Whooping Cough vaccine today. There is a big outbreak in this area and since my last booster was right before HS and I have asthma and work with the public ...
QOTD: My parents wouldn't let us go down to see if Santa had come until my sis and I were BOTH up (we had separate bedrooms). So, we used to sleep together on Christmas Eve, thus ensuring that we both woke up at the same time. It was one of the few times of the year that we actually got along and liked each other.
Still waiting for baby and a rug delivery. Not much to do as I have tried to have everything in order before baby came. A few gifts to wrap and just hanging out.
QOTD: My siblings and I always sleep together on xmas eve so that we could wake up at the same time and go out together to see everything. We did this until I got married. We still wake each other up before going out to the livingroom if we are at my parents' house.
Work for me today... Started the day off badly by forgetting my bus fare this morning and only as the bus was arriving... had to go home, get it and wait for the next bus... grrr....
QOTD: When one of my brother's was at the "doubting" age he tried to stay awake all night to see Santa coming. He's stubborn and managed most of the night awake, but it meant that the gifts had to be gotten past his open door somehow (his room was at the top of the stairs). They were put in a laundry basket and lowered down from another bedroom, wrapped and raised up again. My poor dad was awake most of the night waiting for that moment when my brother actually fell asleep!! That was at around 4.30am and my brother woke before 6am... I would have been around 15 at the time...
Happy 6 days till Christmas!
On today's agenda - prepaing a bit for the Maldives, cleaning the apartment, and trying to get the HUGE pile of ironing done before our trip so it won't be hanging over me in the new year...
QOTD: One Christmas my Dad made Santa boot prints in soot from the fireplace and all around the tree. The night before, they had my sister and I promising to clean up if Santa ever made a mess, haha. It seemed so real, that our unbelieving neighbor's daughter was convinced and she dragged her parents over to show them! My sister and I looked everywhere for those boots, come to find out later Dad had hid those boots in the trunk of his car! So smart!
We're headed to the Maldives on Christmas Eve!

G'morn! Going to the mall to do some bargain and last minute Christmas shopping. If anybody has any ideas for my MIL I'm all ears! We're getting her and FIL a combined gift but I want to have something she can open individually, too.
QOTD: We would leave cookies and a Coke for Santa, and a carrot for the reindeer. The carrot stub would have teeth marks in it, which I loved, and plan to do for my hypothetical children.
Does your MIL read? I got my mum a Book Readers Journal so that she can keep notes on all the books she reads for her book club. This is something like the one I got her. Also got her a book token/gift card to go with it.
Good morning! I'm going out tonight with a friend for drinks--hope I don't get too sloppy celebrating my Jewish divorce from XH!
QOTD: Didn't celebrate Christmas but loved trimming the tree with my friend. My mom let me sit on Santas lap at the mall and take a pic--one year Santa told me he was Jewish and I got all excited because I still believed, even though I didn't celebrate.
Morning! I'm sooo tired today. Pregnancy insoomnia has definitely set in. The past few nights I've been wide awake in the middle of the night.
Last night H and I fianlly put up our tree! We never wait this long, but between travelling, illness and other things, we didn't get around to it until now. I love it. It feels much more festive.
QOTD: The 24th was always the big day for us. We always had HUGE family parties with lots of music, dancing and a big dinner at midnight. Then we'd each go to our own homes and we got to open one gift. We did the rest in the morning. I loved those parties.
Good morning! First on the agenda was my driving test, which I passed, yay! now I just have to work on my paper. not too exciting, but I'm in the home stretch, hoping to be done before we leave for the US on friday!
QOTD: hard to pick just one, but probably peering around the banister on the stairs to see all the presents in the morning! I was just as excited every year to see all the presents that had come, and I still did that every year (my parents still do the santa thing, even though I'm 27 and my sister is 23. haha!). My parents moved this summer though so no more banister to peer around!
Good Afternoon all. I'm so ready to be home for Christmas. It is so depressing at our house today. H was a total jerk to me all weekend and is not feeling well enough to go into work today. W was up screaming last night from 12-3 am and I'm exhausted. I should be getting things organized for the packers, but I really just don't care right now.
QOTD: We'd always leave cookies and milk for Santa and carrots for the reindeer. There would be bite marks in them all and the milk would be half full and we'd have a letter to read from Santa. One year a reindeer stepped on one of my barbies. hehe. The packaging was all smashed. I had a feeling my dad did it, but I never asked.
