Ladies who get manicures...

Do you get the new shellac nail polish??  I splurged and got it yesterday and OMG I loved how it was dry so quickly.  I always, I mean ALWAYS smudge it and was so pleased!  How long does it usually last?? Do you like it??

Re: Ladies who get manicures...

  • I recently tried the gel polish (I think it's the same thing as what you're talking about) & also was amazed at how quickly it dried!!  I always manage to mess up my nails somehow too. It lasted almost 2 weeks which was awesome, but it was a huge PITA to get off afterwards... Looking back I think I probably should have just gone to the salon & had then to it for me. But yay for nice nails for Christmas!
  • Hmmm, do they do them on toes?  I've heard of it but never done it.  I need a Pedicure so very very badly and this got me thinking.

This Friday I don't have work, but Janie has daycare and Momma is finally gettin' her toes done!

I'm sure they can do them on toes, but I've only known people to get them done on their fingers.  Yeah, it is a PITA to take it off, but I will just go back to the salon to have them take it off....a good excuse to get out of the house again :-)

  • I did it on my toes and it lasted almost a month. It was awesome. It never chipped. The only reason I took it off was because my nails had grown out a good bit from the pre-natal vitamins.

  • I have tried both the shellac and gel manicures before. I definitely prefer the shellac over a gel manicure. I think it looked more natural and lasted longer. My shellac manicures last at least 2 weeks, but I've gotten longer out of them before. Definitely let the salon take the shellac off so that you don't damage your nails more! Good for you for treating yourself!!

  • I love the shellac!  I got almost three weeks out of it and only took it off because my nails grew too much.  I didn't have a hard time removing it.  I took a manicure dish poured remover in it and soaked my fingers for a few minutes and it came right off.  My sister tried removing it like normal with a cotton ball and it took her forever.

This exactly. I just removed mine yesterday. Get pure acetone, it works better than plain nail polish. You can get it a a beauty supply store and it's cheap. I soaked mine, then used a metal cutical pusher to scrape it off. That's what they do at my salon when I get it removed then.
