Cornish hens for Christmas eve..wdyt?

We always host Christmas eve at our house and DH's parents come over. This year we are thinking of making cornish hens for dinner (I always try to do something different than the years prior). WDYT? Any suggestions for side dishes?

Re: Cornish hens for Christmas eve..wdyt?

  • Cornish hens are/were my tradition Christmas dinner menu, but ILs won't eat them.

Anyway, I started with pumpkin soup then served these cornish hens with sugar snap peas and rolls.  It's nice because you can do the prep ahead of time and there is no babysitting them.  The side is also built in you just need a veggie or two.

  • Cornish hens are great.  My mom's husband has made them a few times for Xmas and we love it.  I think its a very holiday like meal.

  • My H's family does Cornish hens for Christmas. Personally, I'm not a big fan, but they are a traditional Christmas meal for a lot of people.

  • We have them every year.  I love to do a dry rub with old bay, onion powder, garlic powder, thyme, paprika, and s/p.  We normally have mashed potatoes and other traditional holiday food.

  • My husband's family does them for Christmas every year.  They stuff them with wild rice.  I'd rather have a standing rib roast or something, but the cornish game hens are pretty good. :)
