What to serve for Christmas Eve dinner?

I have no clue what to serve for Christmas eve dinner? It will be just my parents and us, so I don't need to do anything big.  But I still want it to be special.  We will be having ham and smoked Turkey at my IL's on Christmas day, so those are out.

ANy ideas?

Re: What to serve for Christmas Eve dinner?

  • It's just the 4 of us on Christmas eve.  We make engagement lasagne (lasagne that Jim made on the night we got engaged), a vegetable, and bread.  I just posted a fantastic (and very easy) broccoli recipe in the randoms post.

  • How about some appetizars and munchies....although in reality that will probably end up just as much work as a meal, preparring several different items. Smile

I love going to parties where I can snack on different items.  You could do a veggie tray, some assorted sasuages or meats, cheese and crackers, a warm dip, 1-2 hot appetizars (do have a Costco or Sam's membership. they have lots of premade stuff), shrimp cocktail (the bags are on sale at Meijer), etc.

  • Prime rib, pork tenderloin, keilbasa, crab legs & steak, a nice pasta dish.

(I was just listing items I've had in the past that I found to be good)
