Re: How Much Do You Like Your Job?
I alternate between 3,4,5.
I enjoy what I do, but sometimes it can be stressful. Things are much different here than what was portrayed in during my interview process. Not in a bad way, just different. However, there is no precedent so I'm setting everything up as I go along. Great experience, but stressful
It's a 5 because its 4 miles from my house. After commuting in Atlanta traffic for my last job- this is truly a blessing.
pay, perks, benefits: 5
actual work: 3?
actual work this week finding out that I (very likely) can't take the 3 days off next week to hang with Jane and instead have to have MIL come and babysit so I can work because there is so much damn work to do and my one teammate went home indefinitely because her Mom is dying? : Zero.
This sounds about like me.
I'm in the 3-4 range. I really like what I do, where I work, and the people I work with. I really dislike working the evening shift (1-9:30pm). I also dislike taking call. It's only every 8th weekend and one holiday a year, but I still dread it every single time.
If I could be on the day shift at my job then I think I would say there for a long time. Unfortunately, I am like 3rd in line to move to the day shift (and there are only 4 day employees...so I don't see that happening anytime soon). It's for that reason that I have started looking into out patient clinics, etc.
I am a combination of 1 and 3. I took my current job because my other company got bought out and I was going to get laid off if I couldn't move to Atlanta. This job is ok, but it's been a hard pill to swallow because I loved my old job (it was a 4). The new job is with a tiny company and I work from home 3 days per week. The other days I have a 1.5 - 2 hour commute each way. There's no upward mobility options and no real opportunities to expand my horizons...just stay the course. However, it's a paycheck that we desperately need with DH in school, and it keeps me employed, which is good in general.
I guess if I hadn't been offered a management position with a team to run in Atlanta, it'd be different. It's just hard to know I could've been doing bigger and better things! But, we aren't in a position to move right now, so I had to pass it up. Such is life. I am continuing to look and will hopefully land a new gig at a bigger company in the new year!
It's pretty well known that I hate my job. It's a paycheck and stable, so in this economy, that makes it a 1-3 on that list. I do check out listings often to see if there is something better out there.
It's not so much the job really. It's the commute, the fact that I've done the exact same job for nearly 10 years, and I'm just so bored.
Considering I have the next 18 dyas off, 5!
Most days, 4-4.5.

Special snowflake here!
I love the work in my current job, its what I know. However, the work environment went to crap over the summer, and it has been a challenging environment to work in. Very stressful, employees feel underappreciated or worse, and it has become very unproductive.
But I got a new job, yay! I start January 3, and can't assess how much I love it yet. It is a promotion with an amazingly passionate group and they approached me about this position (its a Division within my curent organization) so I am super excited! Hopefully, I can live up to the expectation:)
