Re: big day - part 3
1) How soon after your wedding did you have kids? havent started trying yet... maybe in a year or 2...
hahaha.
2) Did you change your name? yep! i was contemplating if i would keep my maiden name as my middle name, but when i went to get my military ID card (before I even got my new SSN made) , they put my original middle initial so i guess that answered my question!!
3) What was the first dance song? Would you go with me by Josh Turner. We LOVE two-stepping and fun dance moves
4) Favors? I made hot cocoa cones, ended up being less than 50 cents each (you can buy them for $4 or more each so i thought i done good!)
5) Any drama? I made my own drama by being so weird about having to go to the inlaws house the very next morning where all his cousins/aunts/uncles/parents/grandparents were gathered to open presents...... i thought it would be sooooo weird since they'd all know "we done it!!" hahaha. whatever - it was not a big deal at all!!!
6) Any regrets? I wish I didnt pretend to "not care" so much about the decisions. I didnt want any arguments with my mom or DH so if they suggested something, i went with it......... but there are little things i wished i'd done differently. also, i wish i HAD dreamed about my perfect wedding day all my life!! when we got engaged, i had NO clue where to start, what colors went together, what flowers i liked, etc..... that was hard - now that i've been to so many weddings and have so many great ideas, i wish we could have a re-wedding
7) What was the weirdest gift you received? one of dh's college friends gave us two REALLY off the wall DVDs... like, really weird, never heard of. he probably grabbed them out of his collection and gave to us....
8) What did your cake look like? ooooooh i loved my cake!! it was 3 tiers, all white, and stacked like presents. tasty too!!
9) Did you shove cake in his/her face? NO
10) How's your life since you got married? Full of adventures! Apart (while he was deployed) and Together (all the traveling we've been able to do - especially here in Guam!)
2) Did you change your name? Yes. Changed it about 2 weeks after we got married
3) What was the first dance song? We didn't dance
4) Favors? Christmas ornaments filled with the colors of our wedding and thanking people for coming and we put the date on the back
5) Any drama? No
6) Any regrets? While I loved my wedding I sorta wish we would have just gone to Hawaii or something and had a beach wedding. The other thing is I wish I would have had enough money to splurge on a nice photographer. Ours was nice but he was the husband of a friend so I didn't get those cool photos that others have, but the photos I do have are nice. I am hoping that either our 5 year or 10 year we can renew our vows and do it on the beach.
7) What was the weirdest gift you received? we didn't get any weird ones
8) What did your cake look like? It was 3 tier, white with pink flowers. It was so pretty and inexpensive ($100 at Kroger)
9) Did you shove cake in his/her face? No
10) How's your life since you got married? It has been crazy but good. We had a lot of struggles but I wouldn't change anything.
1) How soon after your wedding did you have kids? Chase was born 2 1/2 years after we go married
2) Did you change your name? yes, even though my 3rd hour class that year took a petition to have John take my maiden name b/c it was so much easier to say and spell
3) What was the first dance song? You Had Me at Hello by Kenny Chesney b/c we have been together since the night we met
4) Favors? little boxes of Hershey Kisses
5) Any drama? Of Course! MIL was mad at me at my shower (1 month before the wedding) which caused DH to pick a HUGE fight with me the day after my shower/bachelorette party. I was still mad at her at the wedding.
DH called me while I was getting my hair done b/c one of the groomsman's tux was wrong. He was from out of town, so DH picked up the tux on Thursday but didn't open the bag until Saturday morning. The groomsman had to drive about 45 minutes to the warehouse to get it fixed about 2 hours before the wedding!
6) Any regrets? I wish I would have been more specific with the photographer. She didn't get any pictures of my immediate family w/o DH but she did get some of just DH with his family. She took pics at 2 of my friends' weddings before mine, and their pictures both look so much better than ours. I also wish I would have done a makeup trial. My makeup looked good, but it was not the look I wanted. I also wish I would have spoken up about my hair. It looked good but not great.
7) What was the weirdest gift you received? a pacifier from my college bff and her DH. Yes, it was a hint that she wanted us to have kids, and yes, Chase used it
8) What did your cake look like? 3 tier with icicles hanging on it and snowflakes make in the icing. They were supposed to put a big bow of snowflake ribbon on top but the baker forgot.
9) Did you shove cake in his/her face? NO
10) How's your life since you got married? depends on the day...lately it's been stressful b/c we only see each other a couple days a week since he's working nights, and we're both really stressed...but I am determined to make things work!
Baby #2 - D&E - 10/1/10 @ 19w2d - thanatophoric dysplasia confirmed.

1) How soon after your wedding did you have kids? Wouldn't I love to know the answer to this question!
2) Did you change your name? yes
3) What was the first dance song? The Iz version of "Somewhere Over the Rainbow"
4) Favors? Boxes with Lindor Truffles and Hershey's Kisses
5) Any drama? Nope! DH's brother left my ring at home, but I didn't panic, and someone was able to bring it to the church before that part of the ceremony.
6) Any regrets? My only regret is that we didn't have a video made.
7) What was the weirdest gift you received? Nothing was really weird. We did get a huge bottle of Maker's Mark whisky that had no name on it, and to this day, we don't know who gave it to us.
8) What did your cake look like? wedding cake...3 tiers, white icing with red scrollwork; groom's cake...sculpted cake that was designed after a rock climbing route we've done together (with a climbing bride and groom on it)
9) Did you shove cake in his/her face? Nope
10) How's your life since you got married? Pretty darn good

Craft Blog
1) How soon after your wedding did you have kids? L was born almost 3 years after we got married.
2) Did you change your name? Yes
3) What was the first dance song? Bryan Adams - "Everything I Do"
4) Favors? Red and gold chocolate balls
5) Any drama? Apparently there was but we didn't find out till after. One of my bridesmaids used to date one of DH's best men and at the reception, her sister was sat at the same table as his new gf and when he walked into the reception, apparently the sister made a comment about how he was and idiot and the new gf heard which set her off. I guess the sister ended up leaving early even though she was our on-site coordinator so then the whole cutting of the cake got screwed up because they didn't serve the sheet cakes in the back and gave all 150 guests a tiny slice from the cake that we cut!!
6) Any regrets? Nope.
7) What was the weirdest gift you received? Probably the Star Wars Light Saber
8) What did your cake look like? 3 tier square cake with red ribbon and flowers. It was gorgeous.
9) Did you shove cake in his/her face? Nope.
10) How's your life since you got married? It's mostly ok. I won't lie and say it's perfect because I've been having some personal issues that I think sometimes cause problems but we'll get through it.

so hopefully soon!!
2) Did you change your name? yes; it took me almost a year to finally get everything swapped over!
3) What was the first dance song? Iris by the Goo goo dolls; we could NOT agree on anything, so this was a compromise. haha
4) Favors? We did a cookie bar with homemade cookies from my mom and grandma. I made little bags with monogram stickers. These were supposed to be for folks to take home with them, but I think most people ate them at the wedding.
5) Any drama? Lots with our wedding coordinator
6) Any regrets? I wish I would've delegated more. I tried to take on everything myself and totally stressed myself out. I also wish I would've just 'let things go' earlier. Working until the very last second on all those 'details' wasn't worth the stress it brought.
7) What was the weirdest gift you received? we got a used 'as seen on tv' ravioli maker! Think it was from a little old lady at my church shower.
8) What did your cake look like? 3 tier, white with red roses between all the layers. It was really pretty and so dang tasty! I wish we would've cut it earlier in the reception. A lot of our guests had already left and I heard our freaking caterer (who did NOT do the cake) took most of our leftover cake home! At $3.75 a server, that's a lot!

10) How's your life since you got married? Awesome. We did the whole house thing, got murphy, and now we're starting the next chapter. After this anniversary we'll have been married longer than we dated. Life is so full and our love seriously just grows and grows. So glad to have him!
