What would you do with 10K?

Imagine you're coming into $10K.  For whatever reason.  Lottery, inheritance, settlement, etc.  What would you do with it?

Re: What would you do with 10K?

  • Our CC debt is a little high right now, so that would get paid first, around $5k (don't judge, a lot of it is Whipped startup).

Then the vet bills we're still paying off - around $1100.

I'd probably take another $3000 and pay off one of my little student loans.

The remaining ~$2000 would probably go in savings.

  • Pay off my CC - which is only $600

Register for the last class I need to take

Put 5K into a college fund for Charlie

Invest the rest for DH & I

  • We'd probably put $7500 of it in savings.  Down payment savings sucks.

H wants a sectional for the living room, so we'd buy that, and a really awesome sofa bed for the guest/ craft room, a couple of piece of wall art, and a new vacuum.  Seems doable for $2500.

  • We'd probably put half of it into our "house account" which is for our down payment and savings for home repairs/upgrades once the house is ours.

The other half would be a down payment for a new car for Jay since his croaked right before we left for vacation. We're borrowing a car from my mom for now and it would be nice to be able to get our own second car again sooner rather than later!

  • We have some CC debt right now too, due to dental stuff and home repairs (our a/c going out right at the beginning of the summer, our dryer going out, etc.) I would pay that off. That would be about $6k.

I'd probably use the rest as a down payment on a new car.

  • I would put 5K into a savings account for the little man and the rest into our checking.  Ahhh yes and maybe a sectional instead of our two mismatched consignment store couches in the rec room....

  • I'd pay off my credit card, put a big chunk toward my student loans and put the rest into savings.

  • Pay off the credit cards (between all four of them, about $3500).

The rest would either go directly to a house down payment (Danny wants to move) or a new car for me.

  • Right now that would be heaven! We would pay closing costs to refinance, pay cash for DH's classes, and pay off CC's. If anything were left, we would both get a massage.

  • I think we would buy a used car with it, then stick the rest in savings.
  • Down payment for Mark a new car and pay off small debt (under 500) - probably also put the rest in savings for the remodels for next summer.
  • Pay off our one CC then just save the rest, maybe buy something small we both have been wanting

  • We'd pay off CC debt (both A/C and fridge broke 3 months apart).  Then buy nursery furniture and save the rest.

  • Pay off my remaining CC debt and student loans, and probably put a majority into savings for the upcoming schooling we will need to pay for. This would probably equal close to $5000.

Probably start a savings account for Samma with a decent chunk of it.

Put some towards lanscaping our yard in the spring because it needs it so bad.

And then the rest I would use as a down payment for a new car.
