Ok...please don't laugh. I've been on bc a LONG time and it's been a really long time since sex ed. If I just got off my period is it safe to have sex wo a condom? It has to be nearly impossible for an egg to be there right?
We'll be buying some here very soon but if it's safe for a couple days after I'd rather not use one. Here soon I'll start temping and hopefully I'll know but for right now?
Sorry for the dumb question

No dumb questions... lol
As for you ovulating right now, you are right you are pretty safe. If you have a pretty generic 28 day cycle most people will ovulate between 10-16 days. There is no guarentee's though. So the best way to find out is with temping for a few cycles. You'll start to see a pattern after a while.
I know personally myself at first I was very cautious, probably more than I had to be, but it's better safe than sorry. In generally based on when my ovulation day was we would avoid once I got past days 8-9. Then at least 3-5 days after ovulation, depending on what my temp was doing. If I was really sure obviously sooner.
If you have any other questions feel free to ask. Also.. have you read TCOYF? It's super helpful and will answer a lot of questions.

I think Alise said it pretty well.
But, there is always some possibility that you could get pregnant if you have unprotected sex. So just be aware that if you don't use any birth control you *could* get pregnant (although unlikely) and you need to be prepared for that.
This. Although some people have weird cycles and I wouldn't risk it. I know two people (my mom being one of them) who used NFP and got pregnant the DAY AFTER the last day of their period.

This is completely possible.
Let's say hypothetically speaking that your period lasts 5 days. You have sex on Day 6 and 7, Ovulate on Cycle day 10.. you could totally get pregnant

Thanks for the advice. I have no idea what my cycles are like, they have always been dictated by bcp. I'm curious to find out though. I guess we wobt risk it. Although I really want to start a family, I don't want to start this week. I have some personal goals I need to meet first.
Alise I did order TCOYF via amazon yesterday. Hope to have it soon!

YAY! Good luck, and like I said.. don't hesitate to ask if you have questions. NFP - temping/charting was the way we avoided for about 1 1/2 years. I know that there is also several other girls on the board who are very knowledgeable about temping/charting!

I really appreciate the help. I'm looking forward to this. I've complained about the pill for so long now it's almost surreal to actually stop taking it.
I want to be off it for at least 3 months before TTC. I don't know why I got that in my head but it seems right. I also need to lose a "little" fall/winter weight that I've packed on. (27.2 lbs to be exact). And in addition tint his I'd like to have my car paid off. This is a HUGE trade off of the amount of debt we have that I'd like to pay off. But I know that is a lot to expect, unless I am willing to wait 3 years to start a family and I really don't want to wait that long.
