custody agreement question....
what was most important to you to have in your custody agreement?
Re: custody agreement question....
Also some other things ...
Transportation
Exchange- what time, if parent doesn't show up in X minutes then other parent can proceed with other activities
What parent has to provide for child while the child is away.
Airplane travel, Out-of-state and foreign travel,
School Designation,
Communication- Between parents/ between parent and child, Who pays for cost of communication,
Child Care, Child Safety- NO Guns in the House/Etc,
Medical Cost,
Who can file him as a dependant on income tax/ Who keeps the money,
Religious issues, Child Support,
If supervised visits who will pay-where will the supervised visits happen, Cost of supervised visits,
A long term plan. Similar to achase, my XH has some mental health and substance abuse issues. I wanted a plan that increases visitation duration with time and as DS gets older.
Also consider that what makes sense for your child now, may not make sense as they get older. For example, it wouldn't make any sense for XH to choose one of his week long visits during the school year when DS is older, so I added specific verbiage to address this, even though it's years from now.
Include every detail you can think of in the agreement and don't leave anything open for interpretation.
