Swimtastic

We drove by a new Swimtastic here in Lincoln. I googled it and found that Omaha has one too. My guess is that it's oober expensive but figured someone on here probably knows. We've been doing swimming lessons at the Y and have had very good experiences. I'm just curious and always open to trying something new.

Re: Swimtastic

  • We absolutely love Swimtastic. It isn't cheap, but I don't think it's oober expensive. But, what is expensive to one person, may not be to another. The price for the summer 2011 classes was around $300 I believe, but don't quote me on it.

We do the year round plan so we save a little bit (10% I think) doing it that way. Plus we get preferred classes which is really nice.

  • Compared to the Y it is very expensive. I think it works out to about $20 per session. It is really nice but we decided to go with Lifestrokes. It works out to $10 per session and has identical practices to swimtastic. The owner use ti work for them.

  • Holy crap!! $300 is completely out of the question for us. We're paying $8 per lesson at the Y and he's learned a lot and absolutely loves it. I thought it was worth asking because it looks nice but $20 per lesson is super steep considering my kid never actually passes his level due to major anxiety about floating. He won't do it. Freaks him out still but he gets closer each time.

It's crazy to me how different the "same" things are from place to place.

  • I haven't heard very good things about the Lincoln one.

What about private swim lessons at the Y?  Mary at the Cooper Y is amazing.   K did Float for Life 2 times with her and I was so impressed with what she taught K it was shocking.   K did not do as well in the class swim lessons as she did one on one w/ Mary.

  • Another vote for LifeStrokes.  We have been taking DD to Miss Jessica since she was 9 months old, so we have been going for a year now.  We absolutely love her and can't wait for their new facility to be open! I think she does a great job with all age levels, and she handles each students individual quirks or issues perfectly!

(Let her know we referred you if you decide to go there, and I'll get a discount!)

How does this differ from the Float for Life program? Owen's Sunday School teacher teaches Float for Life at Cooper YMCA I'm pretty sure. I watched her last summer while Owen had his lesson and it was pretty amazed. Amelie is definitely going to do that this spring or summer.
