Update on my head issues.

I drew you all a picture of what my head feels like today. I was going to add bombs and whatnot, but I was too lazy to google/paste them on there.

I have my neuro appointment in the morning, and it cannot come soon enough at this point. I feel like hell and a part of my head/brain feels like it's detaching from the rest of it.

ETA: No, I'm not really shaped like that, but I couldn't figure out a better way to make a dress. Yes, I know I should've been an art major because I might be famous by now.

Re: Update on my head issues.

  • That's a hot pentagon shaped dress you're rocking.

I'm sorry your brain is detaching from itself.  I hope the doctor gets you some answers pronto.

  • Oh sweetie. I'm sorry you feel so so bad today. Hopefully they figure out what is wrong and pronto.

  • Sad  I hope they have answers today, or at least a temporary solution.

  • So I went to the neuro today and the conversation went something like this:

8:30 - in waiting room to be prepped and taken back.

9:00 - find out appointment for 9 was TRIPLE booked, whoops

9:30 - taken back to room #1, blood pressure and heart rate taken

10:00 - taken to another room... just for fun? Neuro (N) finally comes.

    N: What are you here?

Sookie (S): My head hurts. Here are my syptoms/history/ect.

N: Let's look at your MRI. Oh, see these two spots on your brain? They aren't brain matter/tissue.

    S: What are they?

N: I'm not sure, but I don't think we need more tests. You have migraines.

S: I know I have REGULAR migraines, but is this a migraine?]

N: Possibly. Let me give you a big bag of pills and powders to take that may or may not help. Oh, and you can go to physical therapy too.

S: Do I take all of these at once...?

N: No, just trial and error. Pick where you want to start and take it when you get a headache that may or may not be a migraine that may or may not have to do with the non-brain tissue on your MRI. Have a good day!

    Indifferent   I'd get a 2nd opinion.

I'm going to try to get one approved. Unfortunately, there are VERY few neuros here and they all work under the same company.

It's amazing, though, how 2 doctors in the same company can have very different opinions given the same facts.

    Hahaha!!

And the oh so wise dr. didn't offer any insight as to what those spots were?!?!  Yeah, I'd be avoiding HIM like the plague.

No worries though. They aren't tumors, whatever they are. (VERRRYYYYY comforting.)

    Tongue Tied

What kind of doctor throws a mixed bag of pills at a patient without 1.) instruction and 2.) any kind of insight as to why the patient should take them?

A second opinion is a must.

  • Why are Neuros so weird? I dealt with a crazy one when I was getting by blood test done for Huntingtons Disease.

    I agree, get another opinion.

  • wow. I hope your 2nd opinion gets approved!
I've seen a lot of military surprise homecomings. It wouldn't work on me. I always have my back to the corner and my face to the door. Looking for terrorists, criminals, various other threats, and husbands.

Ditto this. And seriously, what kind of doctor (any doctor) throws you a bag o' pills/powders with no instructions? I'm irritated for you.

I really hope you get approval for a 2nd opinion.

I agree with all of this.

Also sweetie we have had patients with issues like these. Go see an optometrist.  Have them do visual fields tests, red cap tests and dilate you. Have them refer you to ophthalmology or nuro ophthalmology. Get your MRI read again. I'm thinking pseudo tumor or something similar. You don't have to answer this but have you gained a bunch of unexplained weight very quickly lately? Like 30 + pounds in a month? That is a sign of pseudo tumor. Obviously I am not a doctor or do I want to be but all of your symptoms are similar to patients I have had recently.

Would I just go to my regular optometrist for this stuff and then have him refer me? I've gained a lot of weight in the last few years, but not recently, and definitely 30+lbs.

Sorry for not responding right away I had to go back to work.

Yes your regular optometrist should be able to do all this stuff.  Also have you noticed vision changes? I really really hope you get answers soon.

  • Ummm...this neuro sounds crazy. I'm not sure where you live but if you live in Texas, I happen to know a hospital that has an insanely good looking neuro...oh ya he's supposed to be good too.
