H is going to be TDY for most of next month. Should we get POAs for when he's gone? This is the first one he's done so I'm not sure what I do/do not need.

Re: TDY
For a month, it's really up to you. If you're the forgetful type and routinely misplace your ID, it's a good idea to have a POA for DEERS on hand. Check the registration due dates for your vehicles, and if those can't be done online and they're due while he's gone, get a POA for that. If your bills are squared away and you have access to bank accounts, you're probably good to go. The big one right now is taxes, in case you plan to get them done as soon as W-2s are posted. IRS.gov has their own POA, doesn't require a notary.

Thanks. I think it would be a good idea to get one for DEERS. I think everything else is up to date and I have access to all accounts, but I'll triple check before it gets closer to when he leaves.
I'd also get one for Finance. A week after MH left for his current deployment, Finance royally screwed up (somehow he got inprocessed in Korea without having ever left the country so they took back 4 months of BAH/ BAS). I had to have the POA in order to work it out. Just one of those random things that sometimes pop up and it's best to be prepared.
I go TDY all the time and DH hasn't ever needed to use a POA. Then again, he didn't use one while I was deployed either. So you probably don't need one.
If you're worried, get one for DEERS/ID cards and one for child and youth services (if you have kids). If the cars/house/lease are only in his name then also get POA's for those items. By planning ahead you should be able to avoid needing a POA.
I really don't think you'll need a finance POA if he's just going to be gone for a month. It takes months for military finance to fix stuff, so any hiccups that happens there can be handled by him when he gets back. If his TDY location is a military installation he'll also have access to finance there.
