Tried & true crockpot breakfast recipes?
We're doing a brunch after church on Christmas day w/ a few relatives and I'm toying with doing a crockpot breakfast dish b/c I won't have time to cook anything between church and when they'll be arriving... problem is, I don't have any recipes to fall back on, and when I'm searching, most of what I'm coming up w/ is oatmeal. While I love oatmeal, I don't want it for Christmas brunch, so any suggestions?
My mom is bringing her egg casserole, so I also don't need anything egg-based.
Thanks ladies!
Re: Tried & true crockpot breakfast recipes?
Do you want something sweet or savory? not crockpot, but we love PW's cinnamon rolls - you can make them even now, freeze them, defrost them the night before and then bake them for something like 20 minutes when you get back from church. But i'm a cinnamon roll fiend.
this was my first thought as well. you leave for church and let them sit on the counter to rise, then just stick them in the oven as soon as you get back.
Otherwise I'm drawing a complete blank for non-egg based, not oatmeal and in the crockpot.

You know...if you wanted to, you could probably make this in the crockpot. You wouldn't get as much in the way of crispy edges, but if you aren't a crispy edge kinda girl it'd be fine.

Ooh, those sound interesting... do you have a link available by chance?
I looooove me some cinnamon rolls, too.

Lene, have you tried this one before? I've tried a couple baked french toast recipes, and they've been... uh, less than successful. :P

I've used this overnight baked french toast recipe for many years. We have it every Thansgiving and it's really good!

Do you always do the praline topping? We're not huge nut fans around here, and DS can't have them. Could they be omitted from that w/o ruining the dish?

Yes, we made it last year and it was super yummy!! I pulled it out again to make for this weekend. DH was begging for it.

The PW Cinnamon Rolls are KILLER. I'm planning to make them Thursday or Friday for Christmas morning.
PW has two posts on the Cinnamon Rolls: One and Two
When I made them last year, I cut the size of the batch (PW's recipe makes a huge amount of rolls), used brown instead of white sugar inside the rolls, and used a basic cream cheese frosting instead of her maple frosting (which people swear by - I'm just not a huge maple fan). They were still incredible. Here's the recipe I used.
Ditto, I make this every Christmas morning now and everyone loves it.
This sounds like the most delicious heart attack on a plate!
