Does this make sense to you?

I have been looking for a new place to rent, preferably a townhome. I found the perfect place. Problem is my lease doesn't end until the end of Feb. I am okay with paying double rent for Feb. Since I am not a big fan of moving everything in one day.

I recently saw an ad for the place online that said move in now and don't pay until Feb! I figured it meant that you got Jan free which would work out perfectly for me and I would go down immediately and sign a lease so I can slowly start moving in and painting, etc. I e-mailed the lady I toured with and asked if this was the deal and if so I was very interested.

She wrote back and informed me that the deal was move in, get the rest of December free and don't pay for Jan until Feb. So really, there is no deal. Why would it be appealing for anyone to just postpone Jan rent to Feb? Then you would have to pay both Jan and Feb on the 1st of Feb. Hmm.

  • My only thought is with Christmas, there may be someone that this appeals to.  They're short now on $$ but will have it by the end of the month and will be fine paying doublej.

  • I would've assumed the same thing as you -- as that's usually the typical move-in special around here.

Yah! I see that all the time around here where you get a month free. The place that I am in right now did it for me.

The one nice thing about the new place I want is since I am in healthcare they give me no security deposit and waive the application fees.
