Rejected for Job - Want to apply again

I interviewed for a job back at the end of October and was told I was a top candidate. After a few weeks, the recruiter emailed me telling me they had decided to continue their search. I replied, thanking her and asking if she had any feedback she could give me. She told me that the feedback was all positive, but they had decided to change the job description and were now looking for someone with a slightly different background.

That was over a month ago and the job is still posted and is refreshed every day. They did change the description a bit, but I think I still meet the qualifications.

I am thinking about contacting the recruiter and asking if they would reconsider me. I was really excited about the company and loved the team who interviewed me, so I was really bummed when they told me I didnt get the job.

Is it worth contacting them again or should I just move on?

Re: Rejected for Job - Want to apply again

  • I think it doesn't hurt.  I think the chances of it going anwhere are slim to none, but you never know.  If you show you're interested still and maybe if you're close to being right and they have not found anyone, you never know.
  • Def contact the recruiter. You really have nothing to lose

  • Definitely contact them!

I had an interview with a company and never heard back. Another position opened up 3 months later at the same company with the same group and it was a better position than the one I had interviewed for. My initial thought was "well if they didn't hire me for X job previously, there is not a chance that they'd call me for this position." I applied anyway and call it lucky they called me the same day, recognized me when I went in again for the interview (I have a unique name) and said they ended up not hiring anyone last time and I got the job right after the interview! so my advice is to definitely apply again!

  • I am in the same position as you.  I'm glad others agree there is really nothing to lose.
