Operation: Be Less Fat Discussion
Any ideas for weekly questions? About 5ish questions and then the weight loss percentages should be enough to get conversation going but not so much that it takes too long to answer.
Just some suggestions:
Maybe how many days/minutes did you work out this week? What are you doing for workout? How was your eating this week?
Anna - This was your idea (and name..haha!). Do you want to post it weekly? If not, does someone else want to be in charge of it?
Challenges: Do you guys like the monthly challenges idea?
ETA: Also, what day?
ETA 2.0: [Poll]

No formatter is installed for the format bbhtml

Day does not matter to me.
Since weight loss is so much more about food than it is about activity, the food question should be specific. Something like: Name the best & worst meal you had this week. That causes more reflection and accountability than, "I ate good" or "I ate like crap".
For physical activity, I think I would do total # of days/minutes and list what you did.
I'm game for whatever challenges. Be prepared though, I'm ultra competitive and I don't quit.
I can do it, unless someone else is itching for it. Hopefully I'll always remember! I think Mondays are good if for no other reason than we seem to have more activity on the board on Mondays than later in the week (or is that my imagination?).
And this is great to help come up with questions. As far as challenges, I'm not competitive at all, so Tiffany, you will probably always beat me, lol.
Should we start next week or after New Year's?
So far then...
1. What did your workouts consist of this week?
2. How many days did you work out this week? How many minutes?
3. What was your healthiest meal this week? Least healthy?
What about ...
What was your proudest H&F moment this week? Least proud?
Did you meet your goals for this week? What are your goals for next week?
The only issue I have with Monday is that at the beginning of the week I have a bunch of steam/optomism. I start losing steam on like Wednesday/Thursday and this could kick us into gear for the rest of week/weekend. This may just be me though...so if everyone else likes Monday, that's cool with me.

I'm on a board that focuses on Fitness and Food and we have a thread every week for the following and are typically Sunday to Saturday or Monday to Sunday, depending on who posts and whether they have the dates right, lol:
-Our meals (we post everything that we eat every single day)
-Weekly goals (can even be unrelated to fitness and food)
-a weekly exercise post (yay or nay on water intake, food and exercise for the day)
We also have a thread once a month that tracks our activity minutes; they set a goal and we try to reach it.
Cooking Light did a healthy habit a month type of article every month this year. I'm not finding it online but I can look when I get home to see what the habits were but if I remember correctly they included cutting down on sugars, adding more cardio, cutting down on the carbs, switching to whole wheat, etc.

Do we want to do monthly or weekly challenges? There are advantages and disadvantages to both.
Things like plank challenges or push-up/sit-up challenges will have to be monthly, a week is not enough to see noticable difference. Things like eating well challenges work better on a weekly level.
ETA: The challenges on H&F are combo personal challenges/group challenges like improving plank time from 30 seconds on 12/1 to 2 minutes on 12/31. You also post your results and the person who improves the most time-wise wins.
I like this idea, too. We can post our weekly goals (i.e. I plan to run x miles in x time) on Mondays and then towards the end of the week we can post on our progress toward those goals.
I think we should keep it simple.
I'm okay with fitness challenges however frequently you guys want, but I'm not going to spend time logging all of my food and reporting it on here.
You guys feel free to do it, but I won't be participating in that part. Way too time consuming.
When I'm "in the game" I keep track of my food through my bodybugg software. But, I don't necessarily want to read everything that everyone else ate, lol. I think the questions Leslie came up with are really good because they'll generate conversation.
I'll be glad to do the weekly check-ins on Thursday, but if someone else wants to take on the monthly and/or weekly challenges, that would be great. I just don't think I can come up with enough ideas for challenges.
I have learned I can't do this. It makes me crazy and obssesive about calories/fat/portions, etc.
In the interest of keeping it simple, it seems like it just needs to be an every Monday all-encompassing post rather than a post on Monday about goals and then an additional post on Thursday about everything else.
So Monday. Yes?
Yeah, I have a hard enough time coming up with a question every week for the TTC check-in. I speak from experience when I say that having to think of fresh weekly challenges is going to be really taxing on whoever takes it on.
I can manage the monthly challenges if that's the direction we want to go but I can't do a weekly one.
Leslie, I love your take-charge attitude. We'd never get anything done around here without you! I agree, Monday check-ins and monthly challenges. I will probably add a question where we can offer tips we've discovered and ask for advice on issues we're having.
ETA: Should we start on 12/26 or 1/2? Will everyone be on vacation next week?
LOL! I'm glad. I always feel like it comes across as bossy but I never mean it to be. It's more like I know we will talk about things forever and then in the end we will all say we are fine with what everyone else likes.
We as a group are totally the people who will starve for an hour while they go back and forth about which restaurant to eat at.
ETA: I say 1/2 for no other reason that we will all likely be back on the boards post-holiday by then.
So if we do Monday, these will have to be for the week before. I actually like Thursday better but whatever. You guys know I'll do whatever the majority votes for.
ETA: to clarify "week before"
With All the Trimmings
Just do it!
This is my family. Maybe we should do a Monday v. Thursday poll. That way it's officially official.
Okay. I'll edit the OP to include poll.
Haha that would be awesome!
