my family has always only done xmas eve with extended fam.. so we usually have prime rib, scalloped potatoes, rolls, some sort of veggie.. or ham sometimes.
never do anything on xmas.
this year we aren't doing anything xmas eve.. maybe seeing a movie together. xmas day we're going to H's parents for breakfast and gifts and then we'll go home. maybe well make steak.
Our plan is appetizers on Christmas Eve. We're going to the Seahawks game during the day.
Christmas Day it's just us again - but I want it to feel like Christmas, so I'm making a prime rib roast with horseradish cream. Undecided for what type of potatoes and I think I'm going to also attempt popover rolls.
This.

this is timely - I just sent this email to friends who keep asking what they can bring:
Looks like we?ll have about 11 people, of the people coming there are allergies to gluten, shellfish and oregano

Spinach and artichoke dip
Pasta Course:
Gluten free lasagna
Main course:
Prime rib

Merry Elves (this weirdly delicious fruit, coolwhip and shortbread thing H's family makes)
Gluten free creation TBD
Drinks:
Wine (K bringing some, We have several bottles also)
Choco wine
Assortment of liquor/beer, etc
Simple and traditional:
Ham
Yams

Carrots
Corn
Rolls
Dessert:
Figgy Pudding

TTC #2 for a million years: SA normal, CD 23 bloodwork shows nothing amiss, ovulation detected. Next step: ? maybe CD3 bloodwork to check eggs? All out of pocket, so limited IF tests/treatments.
h and i don't even know where we will be wandering at this xmas. usually his extended family is really excited about xmas (eve) and have a big party..but it's died down slowly every year. h and i just know that we're driving down to california..and by the time we get there, somebody better have offered to host....if not, we're just hanging out with his cousin
it's usually potluck, though (he's got a huge family). the host usually makes turkey, and everybody else makes chinese food..

jumped ship to the new and improved nest. back to TB for baby boards.
Christmas Eve - H and I started a tradition a couple years ago of going to dinner at our favorite little restaurant, Ristorante Paradiso, on Christmas Eve after church. We'll do that again this year.
Christmas day - I guess my family is doing a repeat of Thanksgiving dinner this year. I'm bringing cranberry sauce. I made a case for prime rib and lost, but turkey is fine.
When I was a kid, my grandmother made a huge Christmas dinner of prime rib and Yorkshire pudding. If H and I ever host Christmas, that will be our dinner of choice.

I am not sure - last I heard it was possibly Italian.
My family always used to get together on Christmas eve t the moved it to the day before so we could see DH's family. I know we are doing lasagna then.
Beef tenderloin on christmas
Christmas Eve, H and I have the tradition of cheese fondue in front of the fireplace with sparkling wine, toasted almonds, assorted fruit, and a small green salad.
Christmas Day is more casual with the fam, we'll be providing ham and not sure what else. My sister is bringing some salads. I'm tired of planning, wish someone else would figure out the menu and assign. I don't mind hosting, but I get tired of thinking. :P
