My niece(in-law) will turn 14 in early January. I have no idea what to get her for her birthday. We bought her a vera bradley ID holder and a Barnes and Noble gift card for Christmas. And SIL said all she asked for was books.
She is a self-proclaimed tomboy. I am just trying to figure out what to buy her. I'll spend between $20-25. I really don't want to get her another gift card. I didn't know if anyone had any other ideas. I am toying with the idea of something small and then a itunes or old navy gift card, if I can't come up with something else.
TIA!
Re: Teenage gift
What about a personalized book bag/tote bag? There are several companies where you choose the pattern, and the name can be embroidered on the front. I recently got one for my 15 year old sister from 31 gifts. It wouldn't be as girly-girl-ish as a purse... and if she is a big reader it may be practical if she takes books everywhere.

I think there are other companies that do the same thing, but I don't know what the names are (I'm not a consultant, but I'm pretty sure there are some in the area.)
I bought my nieces stuff from Fossil
If she is tom boy what about buying something from Pac Sun ?
Stand up for something you believe in.
I love this idea! Or the personalized library stamp. Also, do you know if she has an e-reader? If so, you could get her an accessory for it...maybe a cover or light.
She lives in Chesapeake, VA, so an outing wouldn't work. I think maybe I'll get her a simple tote bag with a gift card inside.
Thanks for the ideas. I was just feeling frustrated because I actually remember being really excited about anything when I was that age (clothes, jewelry, candles, bath and body stuff, games, books, knickknacks, cooking and craft things).
DH's family on the whole is hard to shop for, and it doesn't make it any easier that SIL, MIL, FIL, and two nieces all have birthdays within a month of Christmas.
