Husband/Wife Communication Story....

DH: I'm going to Hannafords, want anything?
Me: I'm thinking ice cream. I passed it up last I was at the store and I've been thinking about it a lot.

Pregnant, craving me waits for 2 hours. He comes home, sans ice cream.

He's surprised when I ask him where the ice cream is.  He says "I didn't know you wanted it. I thought you were just thinking of it."

I didn't think my request was vague.  Yet another example of men being from a completely different planet. He felt really bad and was willing to go out again.Thankfully we laugh at things like this.  And he learns to get your pregnant wife what she is thinking about.  He won't make this mistake again. :)

Re: Husband/Wife Communication Story....

  • One time when I was pregnant and craving soup with fried wontons (aka crunchies) from the Chinese restaurant, DH went out to pick up dinner and failed to bring home the crunchies. I nearly cried. You don't mess with a pregnant woman's food!

I agree that your request for ice cream was not vague at all.

  • wow, that's pretty funny. I don't think you were being vague. The other night I asked dh to bring home ice cream and he got Cheez-It's instead because he thought I was "joking" about the ice cream. Confused
  • When I was pregnant I knew where all the Friendly's ice cream stops were, off of each exit on and off the Cape - and as we approached one exit I said "mmmm I could really go for a twist with rainbow sprinkle" and hubby was like "oh yeah?" and we changed the subject and then he drove right on by the exit! By the time we past three diffrent exits (to the next exit I knew had a friendly's) I was like "I NEED a twist with rainbow sprinkles!  NOW!"  Then I was like "What just took over my crazy pregnant body!?!?!?"  But you can bet I got the friggin twist with rainbow sprinkles! YAY me!

  • If you want, I can have MH teach your husbands about food communication-- he just made me a pancake 30 minutes ago because I said I was craving them. I didn't even have to ask!

Now, if we're talking non-food communication, well-- MH is as lost as the rest of the husbands of the world. But he knows I don't joke about food...  LOL

I hope DH brought you back some whipped cream to go with that ice cream!

  • you poor thing!  did you ever get the ice cream??

I've never been pregnant and my food cravings still cannot be messed with...it's a problem   :)

  • Whaaaat. Your request wasn't vague!
  • I hope he stocks up on ice cream for you to make up for it!

DH called asking if I wanted something from DDs.

    I said "Muffin"

    He heard "Noth'n".

I pouted when he came home without a muffin or anything for me.

  • I'm sorry :( That would never happen here since DH gets ice cream every single time he goes to the store, between what I make and he buys we have most of our freezer in the basement filled with ice cream!

He's pretty good with picking things up for me before I even know I crave them, or if he stops somewhere like DD he'll get my fav thing and if I'm not hungry I'll save t for later. Only thing he will never buy me is onion dip because I'll eat the whole thing in one sitting Embarrassed
