Hump Day Randoms

Re: Hump Day Randoms

  • We're having our Christmas luncheon today at work.  I'm kind of excited.  We're having authentic Mexican. Should be good.

Wish me luck for bingo too!  There's a $100 cash prize.  I bought 3 cards (for charity), so I hope at least one of them is the winner.  I could really use the money.

  • Good morning Ms. Wop:-)

Your little girl makes me smile. Today is my second to last day at work before the break. I'm excited, but I should have taken today and tomorrow morning off too.

4 days until Christmas. I'm just...not in the spirit this year. Looking forward to vacation, and actually seeing my husband every day for a week. After the new year I won't get to see him regularly until the middle of April.

Speaking of that. I have to (b)itch for a moment. So I managed to go all 4 years of law school without  being FORCED to take weekend classes, and the moment I get married and my husband gets a job on the other side, I get hit with 2 mandatory Saturday classes. Blah...Oh well. It's only 15 weeks right??

All that to say...Good morning too.

  • Whining ahead:

I'm bumming about Christmas today.  My grandpa's gone this year.  My grandma's in a nursing home.  And there's no freaking snow.

    BAH HUMBUG.

    End whine.

Also, good morning to you all.

    Aw thanks :)

I know what you mean.  I thought I would be really excited this year because of Renee, but she's not old enough to know what's going on, so maybe that's why?  I've been turning on the tree and listening to Christmas music in the house as soon as I get home thinking it might help.  We're just so busy and exhausted this year, that I don't feel like we have the time we used to, to enjoy it.

  • Please keep Mike in your thoughts. He developed an all over body rash the other day and it hasnt gotten better. He has agreed to go to the urgent care center after I get out of works. It's spots not shingles - just need to get him some relief.

  • Sorry for the weekend classes, the rash, and no snow :-(

It's my last day of work before a bit of a break (I have my grandmother-in-law's funeral tomorrow and our offices are closed Friday and Monday). So hard to concentrate!

I just have one gift to get yet and I'm done with shopping. It is hard to get in the spirit with no snow. Plus I'm getting cross country skis from my MIL for Christmas so I really hope we get some soon!

  • Saturday classes? BOOOOOO.

    Body rashes? BOOOO.

    Green/brown Christmas? OK with me!

I do not mind the lack of snow one bit. Huh?

I had a rash like that a few years ago.  I was diagnosed with eczema.  It was freaky and looked icky.  I had it from head to toe.  I guess mine was stress induced.

I totally agree with everything you said.

The snow IS coming.  It will be here for three LONG AS$ months.  Holla for greenish brown Christmas.

I hope that's what it is. He just wants to make sure whatever it is and wants some relief. Benadryl is barely helping.

Have him put Cetaphil type lotion all over his body and buy some really really gentle body wash (cetaphil makes body wash too, but you can get off brand cheaper).  Harsh soaps and lotions will make it worse.

DH had some nasty rashes from his upper arms down to his upper thighs before we learned he's allergic to wheat. Once he went gluten-free, it cleared up FAST.

  • I kind of dig white Christmases. Besides in my mind, if we get it when we're supposed to, we won't get it in April- right? Don't shoot down my dream!Stick out tongue

Sorry for the funeral and the body rash.

I think I have eczema too. I get little dry patches. They itch like crazy (battling a few as we type).  Moisturizing is very important. He can also see a dermotologist. I have this cream that stops the itching very fast. It comes in ointment form too. I'll come back later with a name if you'd like.

  • A bit of snow between Christmas Eve (which it isn't yet!) and NYE, with temps back into the 40s/50s directly after, would be my ideal world.

    Ditto this!

    GL in bingo Wop!

I will have a beach instead of snow for Christmas, and I'm okay with that. :-P

For those not in the holiday spirit just yet, I think that's kind of okay.  Maybe take some time during whatever you have off from work to do something special for yourself or with a loved one.

It would be nice to know what it is. Right now he just wants to get to urgent care and get the relief that he can from the itching. He is thinking maybe it might be the cats. He says that his eyes are watering too. But why all of a sudden would he be allergic to the cats?

I have a patch of stress eczema as well. It didn't appear at all last year. It's back in full force this year.

Yes. December-January-February is when I want snow. I fear that a green-brown Christmas will mean a white Easter (April 8th! It could happen!). And that is the worst!

I *want* that too, but just because we all want it, doesn't meant it's going to happen.  March ALWAYS has a ton of snow.  Can't change that, so I'm trying to enjoy being snow-free for as long as possible.  :)

  • My job is going to be such a great motivator for school.

  • Ugh, it has been a while since I have posted here,  but DD has been sick since last Wed 5:00am...she has been in and out of Pedi office four times in the past week.  On Fri.  she was diagnosed with right ear infection.  Took her back Mon, because she said sh couldn't hear.  Well she had perferated BOTH ear drums and can barely hear.  Been on some nasty smelling (according to her tasting also) medications.  Ended up having to take her in again today, because her caughing has been horrible even with her inhaler and albuteral (she also has asthema).  Doc sent her in for X-rays before appointment.  The lungs are considered "okay" considering she has the asthema, they sound better than on Monday, and that the coughing is probably from all the drainage coming down from her nose, sinuses and ears.

At least the Pedi feels that we are going on the right track.  We just need to keep an eye on it, and hopefully she clears up much better over the next few days.

The poor girl hasn't done much of anything.  The most she has done was go to the store with me, once with DH and back and forth the pedi.  I brought her to her preschool after their party so she could see her teachers and give them their gifts before Christmas.  Since she isn't contageous anylonger her Karate school invited her to come in about half way through class and have punch and cookies for their Christmas party.  As long as she is doing okay, I just might let her.

So of course I am the one taking care of her,so who gets sick next???  ME.  We have been keeping clear as much as possible from DH, because he can't afford to miss work right now, with some staffing issues going on.

So that is what has been going on around here.

Seriously, I hope you and DD feel better soon!  Its so hard when everyone is sick.  :(

  • Sorry to hear of all the stresses of everyone.

WOP - the first Christmas is hard because you feel like you should be extra excited because you have a kid, but yet you are exhausted and the kid has no clue what is going on. I'm pretty sure I wrote a blog entry about it either the first Christmas or second Christmas when I had two babies - about how I felt like Christmas snuck past me.  I promise you it gets better each year  and as you go along, you will develop new traditions.  This Christmas is 100x better than any other Christmas season because both girls are into it and are loving everything.

  • I got 50 shots today. I am still alive, and celebrating that fact.

Thank you!!!!  DD seems to be doing better now.  She went to the second part of her Karate class, and had a small Christmas party with cookies and punch.  So hopefully she is out of the woods!!!!!

You feel so hopeless when there is nothing you can do to help your LO, except extra hugs, cuddles and meds.  :(
