Is everyone ready for the holiday?

(if your celebrating)- do you have everything set for christmas or are you running around doing last minute things?  Every year, I promise that I'll be more organized 'next year' but that never seems to happen.  I am off to the mall again today for what I hope is my last trip.  I have everyone finished and wrapped except for my husband.  He's so tricky to shop for so I always end up leaving him for last.  I wish I was done though!

Re: Is everyone ready for the holiday?

  • We finished shopping for gifts as of this past weekend, and even then it was mostly little things to round out what we already had.  However, there's always stuff to do up to the last minute and I'm starting to get that nervous feeling!

Last night DH and I knocked out a few dozen cards and they went into the mail today.  I've never done cards so late and I really do like sending and receiving them so we made the big effort last night.

I'm still frantically trying to finish knitting a blanket for my cousin.

I have lots of baking to do and won't be able to start it until Friday late afternoon/early evening.  I also have to grocery shop for and make my potluck dish for Christmas day.  I was considering taking Friday off to give myself more time, but I think I'll be OK.

Kinda glad now that DH insisted we not host this year Smile

I'd rather be rock climbing or playing volleyball

  • All my shopping is done. DH got one thing tomorrow and another item is being delivered today and I will wrap them tonight. The things for my parents won't be coming until Friday when I'm home so I can sign for them so they won't be wrapped until Friday.

I've started cleaning the house in preparation for MIL and SIL coming to stay with us for 2 nights Christmas Eve and we're also hosting Christmas Day. We will have more cleaning to do over the next 3 days. I'll be grocery shopping Friday as well. I didn't want to buy the food too early.

  • I did pretty well this year.  We got our tree Thanksgiving weekend so I was able to get the living room decorated then cleaned up with a few weeks to go.  That has been nice.  I also did a lot of online shopping early so I've had gifts wrapped and under the tree for a few weeks.  I still have one or two more gifts to grab but I know what I am getting for the most part.  I might need to do my H's shopping too since he is busier at work than he anticipated and can't run out at lunch.  Otherwise I just need to finish a few cookies and get a few addresses so I can send the last of my cards.  Not bad!  Certainly better than last year, so I am happy.
  • I'm so close to being finished shopping. I just have to run out to the store tonight to grab just a couple items and I'm done. Then I have to finish wrapping... I'm probably about 50% finished. Ohhhh and the cards, I forgot about those... I'm going try and finish them up tonight.

I haven't even given any thought as to what I'm making to bring to peoples houses this weekend. Yikes!

  • I am done shopping.  I just need to do some wrapping.

I really only have to go to the grocery store to get all the things I need for Christmas dinner.

  • Remember my question last week about whether or not you buy your ILs a present separate from your SO/spouse? Well, my husband and I settled on him buying his parents gifts. However, he's bought them nothing.  So we still have that to do on Friday, when I pick up the rental car.

Otherwise, we're done. I wrapped the bulk of the gifts on Sunday, but one more thing came in the mail and I bought my brother one more gift, so I'll wrap those tomorrow when I'm home.  I offered to make brownies to bring to my mom's for Christmas eve (we go out for Chinese food), so I have to make those on Friday. But since I make them from a box, that won't take much.  And his parents insist that we don't need to bring anything, so we're going to grab a bottle of bubbly and call it a day.

And as of this afternoon at 5 o'clock, I am on vacation until January 3rd. Suh-weet! I am so thrilled.
