Favorite Holiday Desserts

What's your favorite? Is there something that HAS to be there every year or your family will riot? Or is it something different every year?

Re: Favorite Holiday Desserts

  • My Mom usually makes this cranberry walnut upside down cake that I love. Other than that we usually have a variety of cookies.
  • Nothing really actually that I can think of.  We usually have a tray of goodies out at my parents that gets noshed on but there's nothing that sticks out in my mind.

Thanksgiving has way more "must haves" than Christmas does in our house.  We keep Christmas really casual.

  • My mom typically makes a big trifle, but last christmas and this christmas it was just my parents, my brother, DH and me (and my nephew) so the trifle doesn't get eaten so she didn't make it. I imagine next year when my other brother is back for christmas she'll make it again.

We do always have jello jigglers though haha and tons of cookies. This year I'm making a chocolate peppermint cake.

  • Rice pudding and fruit suppa (fruit soup) for Xmas and blintzes for Hanukkah.

  • My family will riot if my mom does not make her bread pudding with rum sauce.

  • My favorite is pumpkin pie....I look forward to it every holiday season!  It doesn't matter if it's homemade or store bought...I just love it!  Oh, and it's a bonus for me if there's Cool Whip! :)
  • There isn't any one thing. We always have my aunt's cream cheese brownies at family get togethers, and she'll bring those to brunch at my Mom's on Christmas. And we always have cookies and homemade candies all over the place. But otherwise, there's no one thing that we look forward to.

My nieces and nephews do look forward to anything Aunt Dee Dee makes. I get swarmed the second I walk in the door. No pressure or anything.

  • There are usually different things each year.  As long as there are cookies of some sort I am content.

  • I will personally riot if we dont have my moms pineapple coffee cakes on christmas morning. But probably no one else in my family would.

  • Nothing like cake or a pie, just mostly cookies.  Chocolate chip cookies are a must!  I could eat them for breakfast, lunch, and dinner...so could the rest of my family.

  • We usually have a lot of cookies and my mom always makes zucchini bread for the holidays.  I usually eat it for breakfast.
