How often do you need to seal hardwood floors?
I bought a house a month and a half ago and most of my flooring is hardwood. I was told that the floors are sealed, but I have no idea when. Is this something that I need to do on a regular basis? What does it mean exactly? If I do need to re-seal them, how often and how do I do it? Thanks in advance!
Re: How often do you need to seal hardwood floors?
It depends on how much wear and tear a floor gets. Ehow has some good basic instructions.

We did the bathroom and bedroom in our old house (old to us and old in general. It was built in 1820s-1830s). They were in rough shape from 180 years of use. My brother has a house that he & SIL built in 1999. They have never refinished their hardwood floors but are considering refinished the main staircase because it gets heavy use from their four sons and two large dogs.
Sealing the floors is very useful for stain preventing. If you drop a glass of fruit punch on unsealed wood, you would have that unnatural red color on your wood forever
