Lightening my load

My goal over the next year is to get rid of the clutter in my life. Yesterday I made the first step, and sold my engagement ring/wedding band and gave a ton of old clothes to charity. It felt so good to finally let go of it. Plus my savings account got a nice little boost!

  • Woohoo!  I'm doing that with clothes today!  It feels good to have less clutter.  I'm also in desperate need of filing piles of papers :P

  • I was just looking in my closet last night thinking I need to get rid of some clothes.  I should also look into selling my two wedding bands.  I gave the engagement ring back since it was an heirloom, but kept the two bands.  They probably aren't worth much, but at least a little bit I'd guess.  Did I see you took them to a jeweler in your town?

  • I should probably consolidate my 2 closets full of clothes into one by donating some.  Embarrassed
  • This is exactly my plan before I start my new job. I have a huge walk-in closet and the guest bedroom closets are completely full. I also need to find a home for my wedding dress.

Over the summer I took them to several different jewelers, and this one offered me the most for it.  I was kind of hanging on to it to see if gold prices would go up, and to see if I could get any more for it elsewhere.  But after doing some research on how much the diamond was worth on eBay, I decided their offer was a fair one.  So I took the money and ran!  LOL

If it is only a few years old and in good condition, donate it to Brides against Breast Cancer. You can get a tax write off for it as well.
