non-clicky poll - sick days
What's the most consecutive unscheduled sick days you've taken from a job?
This lady told me the other day she was out sick from work for a week and I thought that was really shocking. I repeated it to a friend and she seemed to think taking a week off for being sick isn't that unusual.

Beside Mat leave?
I've taken 5 days off in a row for various things - 2 d&c's. One year I took off close to two weeks - I had the flu, pink eye and my grandmother died.
... every single day of forever.
1 day.
I was out "sick" for 5 days for my laser eye surgery, but that was scheduled.
One day, unscheduled, here and there. I don't take sick time if I can help it since I've been hoarding leave since I started. I have never taken more than one day in a row since i've been at my current job (for sick days.)
I'm also stubborn and refuse to admit I'm sick until a few days in so if I was better about just admitting it I'd probably be home more (I'm not trying to be that obnoxious person who goes to work sick, I just don't realize how sick I am.)
At my work I have to have a doctor's note for anything more than 3 days.
My second year of teaching I was out for 2 days, then I came back for a day and was out for another 2- I had strep and a double ear infection. That's the most I've ever missed at one time (not counting maternity leave).
Its usually easier to come to work then to write lesson plans for a sub. If I have to get out of bed and come to school to get stuff ready, then I might as well just go to work.
Up until this year 2, maybe 3 days was the max but 3 was really pushing it.
Then I got sick really bad this past Halloween/first week of November and I was out for 6 days straight...came back and still wasn't 100%. I felt absolutely guilty and terrible about not coming in but there was no way I could have. It was the first time in my 12 year working career that I had missed more than 4 days of work.
