Re: QOTD Wednesday

  • My coworker who sits six feet from my office door seems to have gotten the "Last Christmas I Gave You My Heart" song (is it by Wham?) stuck in her head this year and I'm quite sick of hearing her sing it all.the.time.
    imageimageimage
  • THAT STUPID FAITH HILL SONG FROM THE GRINCH - "Where are you Christmas?" or some kind of lame douchey title like that.  It is so insipid it makes me want to hurl.
  • that christmas shoes song make me want to slit my wrists. and i hate, hate, HATE mariah carey. all i want for christmas is to never hear her sh*tty christmas music again.

  • Anything like, "Grandma Got Run Over by a Reindeer," or that one about the donkey (whatever it's called).  Songs like that make my skin crawl.

those make my skin crawl too!

this year, it's all about the she and him christmas album for me.

  • For annoying, I listen to the Mickey mouse cast sing them every day since that is the only way my 2.5yo wants to hear Christmas music.  It isn't too awful but it would be nice to hear an adult sing every once in a while.

For ones I don't like, anything that makes me cry or gag like Christmas Shoes which makes me do both.

I actually like most everything since my Mom was huge into the Christmas music.

  • I have never liked the Little Drummer Boy, no matter who sings it.  Whenever I hear it, I have flashbacks to Jessica and Ashlee Simpson singing/whining it on their Christmas special back when Jess and Nick were still married.  Blech!

Grandma Got Run Over by a Reindeer

    Another Auld Lang Syne

    Christmas Shoes

That Beach Boys Song ("christmas comes this time each year")...really?  I didn't know that??

And this is probably an unpopular opinion, but I really don't like The Christmas Song (chestnuts roasting on an open fire).

I sound like a total grinch.  I actually love most Christmas music and look forward to it each year - just not starting the day after Thanksgiving.  Not that you asked, but my favorites are O Holy Night by Josh Groban, Rockin Around the Christmas Tree by Brenda Lee (fond childhood memories of my sisters and I trying to tape it off the radio), and Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas by Judy Garland.

  • I hate The Christmas Shoes also.  Other not-favorites include My Grown-Up Christmas List and Mary Did You Know.  I do like most Christmas music though.

Haha, I actually like that song, but I totally agree with you that that line is the dumbest ever.  I have to laugh every time I hear it!

  • OMG, pretty much EVERYTHING played on 97.1.

if you are a pop/country/rock singer, i don't want to hear your version of jingle bells/silent night/frosty/etc.

DH is ecstatic when that station turns to holiday music and i find myself become more and more the grinch each year because it drives me bonkers.

ETA: i actually love Little Drummer Boy...the classic version is one of my favorite songs this time of year. i also really like Last Christmas by Wham! (ok, i guess i'm a hypocrite)

    This!!!

  • Lots of the ones already listed, and also "Christmas Eve in Washington." America's hometown? Really?
  • My least favorite "modern" song is Christmas Shoes. That is just dreck on a stick.

Least favorite classic Christmas song is Little Drummer Boy. I don't understand the appeal.

"Do they know it's Christmas" is also pretty bad. The music itself is ok, but the lyrics are stupid.

Oh yeah, I forgot I hate both of these as well.

  • I seriously cannot stand "Blue Christmas" just because of the oo-oo-ooooooo part.

Oh, and I just don't believe Taylor Swift (whom I really love) when she sings "Santa Baby."  She's just too nice to sing that song.

    Baby Birthday Ticker Ticker
  • I also can't stand songs that are like "oh, it's Christmas, so I should be happy, but my baby's not here, so I'm sad."  Examples are Blue Christmas and Christmas (Baby Please Come Home).

  • The Chipmunks Christmas song, the "So This Is Christmas" song by John Lennon, "Simply Having a Wonderful Christmas Time" sung by Paul McCartney (I think), and "Hey Santa" sung by the Bangles.  Ugh.  Grates my last nerve.

  • "Simply Having a Wonderful Christmas TIme" by Paul McCartney. I love him, but--ugh.

Yea, I don't care for many of the modern versions of songs. I can't think of one song I absolutely hate, but I find most of the modern ones a bit annoying, especially if it gets stuck in my head.

I'm not familiar with Christmas Shoes (I don't think at least). I'll have to check that one out out of curiosity.

  • I don't necessarily find them annoying but I don't really like any heavy, sad xmas songs.  I mostly just want to hear jolly, fun songs.

These are my least favorites too, especially the Chipmunks. I also hate Christmas Shoes, Do They Know It's Christmas, that Beach Boy song, Grandma Got Run Over by a Reindeer, and Santa Baby.

And, in case I sound like a real downer, I love the Mariah Carey song and the classic versions of Jingle Bell Rock and Rockin' Around the Christmas Tree.

  • There is not a single Christmas song that I don't like.  Give me all the "Percy the Puny Pointsetta", "Grandma Got run over by a reindeer", "Dominic the CHristmas Donkey", and I'll be all smiles! Stick out tongue

  • I hate pretty much all Christmas music.  Some are worse than others (the Chipmunk song, Grandma Got Run Over by a Reindeer) and some are better (John Lennon's So This is Christmas), but I would be quite happy to never hear any of them.
