Re: xbox kinect?
My cousins got one (they get everything) and I think they were pretty disappointed with it. I played it, and even though I only did the one or two kid games that came with it, I personally wasn't too impressed. It might be great for exercise-type games, or dancing games, but I don't know much more about it than that.
What have you found online about it?
We have one and we LOVE IT!
We have a sports game, some adventure game that Steve likes, and our favorite... Dance Central! It's basically "just dance" from Wii for the kinect. The sight of Steve trying to to the dance from Salt-n-pepper's "Push It" was well worth the cost of the game ($30). We have spent many nights having dance battles with each other.
I want to get either Zumba or the Biggest Loser fitness game next so I can use the kinect to workout at home when I can't make it to a class at the gym.
We foudn it to be WELL worth the money and a great way for us to spend time together since it's a compromise between Steve's love of video games and my desire to be more active.

This. My mom has one and we really like the games, but it's a big life-pain to keep the dogs from getting in the way of the sensor.
