VENT

So H never surprises me, ever. I always find out about everything. He tried to send me flowers yesterday, and I would have been completely surprised. But, of course, no such luck. They never got delivered, so he spilled the beans so I could find out what's what.

I called the company, they had me on hold for *forty* minutes (I have a timer on my work phone, not all in a row, broken up of course) while they figured out why their vendor couldn't do what they're supposed to do. They're going to be delivered to me tomorrow, two days late, on a day when I have a half day right before I leave for Maine for a week. I asked to cancel them and have them refund H's card. Legally they can't do that unless H calls. H is in Afghanistan and can't have his f*ing aircraft land so he can call some incompetent flower company to make a phone call during their business hours. Fine, I don't want anyone breaking the law. The customer service rep didn't jump in front of the flower truck to stop delivery, but I had to ask for a credit to H so he could send his mom or someone flowers. Why the heck do I have to ask for that after both the CSR and the manager were "searching for options to help us" and I was on hold, at work, for eight million minutes?!

Also, their hold music was Sirius radio, and sporadically would play holiday messages from deployed troops to their families back home. "Hi, this is PFC Schenectady in Helmland Province Afghanistan, wishing my family a Merry Christmas back home in California."

Poor H. He's just trying to make MY Christmas nice, and stupid companies can't even do what they promise. I think I'm just going to tell him no more flowers until he gets home. :(

Here's the company. Forward it to your Hs so they order from a company that actually has semi-decent vendors. http://www.wesleyberry.net/

I've seen a lot of military surprise homecomings. It wouldn't work on me. I always have my back to the corner and my face to the door. Looking for terrorists, criminals, various other threats, and husbands.

Re: VENT

  • Such a pain in the butt, seriously! I hate when they can't accommodate.... it's not like you wanted to charge MORE to the card!

And just a comment on the surprise thing.... I was checking my credit card to see if I had received a refund yet for something I returned, and I happened to see my husband used his card in a few places, to buy me Christmas presents!  I hate that I saw it and now know where they are coming from!! or that a present is even coming. Ah, well. He should have warned me not to check the statement... ha

  • Being on hold for that ammount of time is not necessary. What a pain. I am sorry your lovely surprise was ruined, Stan. :-(. And I can not stand those family shout outs from overseas, not this year.

I would buy you a drink if you weren't so far away. :-(

    ETA. Fixed some things

  • Did you tell them you have a POA to handle his financial affairs?  What a bunch of morons.

    I didn't! I should have!

They didn't issue the credit, they sent him a bloody email that said the flowers that I tried to cancel are being upgraded. I'm going to wait and see if they send another email with a credit, or this will be all out grumpy Grinchy Stan war on a company.

And it's not even the fact that he's gone. I HATE poor customer service. 25% of my job is customer service. It's not that hard.

  • That sucks. They definitely should have been figuring out a way to fix that long before you called them.

  • I agree with Amaristella. I'm sorry you didn't get your flowers Stan. Their costumer service sounds awful.

Just for future reference, you have to set them up in the vase yourself and unwrap roses but Pro Flowers was great when E was deployed.  And MIL has used them, saw the flowers that she had sent to me, called and complained and I got new flowers right away.

  • Something similar happened on one of DH's deployments.  By the time it could get fixed, they would have been delivering the flowers about two days before I left for a long business trip.  They were willing to change the delivery to three weeks later, after I would be back from my business trip, so I could enjoy the flowers.  It was a headache to deal with, but so be it...

Worse was when I got home from a long business trip to discover _someone else's_ flowers on my doorstep.  They had delivered to the wrong address, about a week prior to my arriving home.  I tried calling the flower place, and they said they couldn't do anything unless the buyer or recipient contacted them...  I was able to contact the neighbour who they were intended for, and let her know how sorry I was that I didn't get them to her sooner, and that I had tried calling the flower place...

  • Sorry Stan. :( I hope it gets sorted out. H sent me flowers for  V Day last year (while he was at SERE) and when they showed up they were mega dead. He used FTD I believe through USAA. I had to call and ask why the hell would they send dead flowers, oh we didn't check them- well isn't that great. They made it right though, used a local florist and got some gorgeous flowers the next day plus a $40 or $60 credit for next time. :/
