I love thrift shopping, it's amazing what you can find at times.
It's a pretty regular occurrence that someone sends a brand new clothing item to Goodwill simply because either they decide it wasn't meant for them after all, or it didn't fit, or they forgot to return it.. either way it's awesome when you hit an item like that for a super low price!

ugh, i'm too prissy to get clothes at 2nd hand stores. i just can't bring myself to sift the shelves.....i wish i wasn't so snooty about it....but haven't brought myself to do it yet.
i *did* find something at platos closet before though, when a friend was there. it was their "special" right at the register. a brand new helley hansen ski jacket for $40. supposed to be almost $300.
yay for good, brand-new finds!!

Right there with you, jennlin. I'm also really impatient so I hate "digging" for things, which means that I have a hard time at The Rack, TJ Maxx, etc. In fact, I almost never go there because I get so frustrated that I usually walk out after 5 minutes. I wish I had more patience because my girlfriends find super cute things at these stores, but in general I would rather just buy less, pay more, and not deal with digging through stuff. And I haven't set foot in a Goodwill in years (H is the exact opposite of me and would want to shop there exclusively if I would let him, which is why I don't ever consider going there)... I don't even know where the closest one is to me.
see, for me I LOVE the hunt and I love even more finding a really good deal. Also, because it's convenient for me to get to, I just go often - the more you go, the more likely you are to find things! I have days where I find absolutely nothing, and then other days were I find like 10 things. But it's all about enjoying it and if you don't then it's not worth it

I don't know if this is ironic, but I hate shopping online because I'm impatient (even though you guys think goodwill etc shopping is tedious) - I don't want to wait for shipping and once I see something, I want to immediately know if it fits, how it looks in person etc.

lol, yeah, i'm not sure if it's "ironic" or not...because i don't have the "patience" to dig through the racks, but i definitely have the patience to wait for delivery.....hmmmm....

Ha! I know a lot of people like that - the thrill of the hunt is almost better than getting the actual item. I totally get that - I'm just not one of those people. I have girlfriends who LOVE Goodwill's "All that Glitters" sale or whatever... the thought of a bunch of people converging on Goodwill and having to dig through all that stuff WITH a whole bunch of other people literally makes me cringe. I'm a shop online girl all the way. I have gone to exactly zero stores this year in my Christmas shopping - everything was bought online and shipped with Amazon Prime so I didn't have to wait too long.
