Another Catholic question--kids and Mass

Does everyone take their kids to the children's mass?  We usually do but I feel so clausterphobic because it is PACKED.  I don't want to be the only one with kids at a different mass though...

Re: Another Catholic question--kids and Mass

  • We go to mass Christmas morning. I don't know if our church does a children's mass, but there were a lot of kids there last year at 10:30 am. Our previous parish we did, but the priest did a great children's mass, but yes it was always  very crowded.

  • I avoid the kid's mass at all costs. We usually go to the earliest one on Sunday's. Less people, less kids. I don't know what we are doing for Christmas yet. I hate taking my kid to church. I spend the whole time focusing on him and his behavior that it just seems pointless to even go.

  • Trust me, you won't be the only family wanting to avoid the children's mass and attend a different one.  Growing up we rarely ever attended the kids mass at my grandparents church for those exact reasons.  Too crowded and it was always way longer.

  • Growing up we only went to children's mass (1130) if we had to for choir or alter serving. It was always packed though. We usually went to 730 am mass. It was nice to get up, shower, go to church, and then come home and enjoy opening gifts and eating breakfast without having to rush.
