Updated :Please pray for my sanity today, please

Both my coworkers are sick. Its Thursday which is one of our crazier days and its the week before the end of the year and everyone in their brother is coming in to use benefits. Dr and I are going to die. Please pray we can swing 13 patients and walk ins and the phone ringing by our selves. We are going to need it.

Update towards the end of the posts.

Thanks girls!

  • You've got this!

I know it's counterintuitive, but when you're swamped, don't try to multitask.  Focus on one thing at a time, otherwise everything gets done halfassed.  It's okay to answer the phone and immediately say, "Can you please hold?"

    Thanks.

My game plan is to have Doctor pretest all her patients herself today. Thankfully the last 4 patients are the former doctor and her family so hopefully dr g can help with her family when they come in. I'm just going to breathe and drink black tea and try to not over think this.

  • Ojo is right! If you get too flustered or try to do too much then you probably won't be able to do anything! Take your time and it won't kill people to wait.

I'm going to run it by the doctor, but do you think a sign saying "we are short staffed today, thank you for your patience" would be okay? I mean most of our patients rock but some walk ins are awful.

  • I think a sign like that is fine.  Most people are smart enough to know that holidays come with minimal manning, but it wouldn't hurt to put a sign at the door apologizing for the longer-than-normal wait times.

  • Yeah. I know everyone is trying to squeeze in and take advantage of their maxed out deductible and FSA/HSA. It has taken me 3 1/2 to get into the endo's office.

  • If I were a walk-in I would truly appreciate a sign like that; I'd probably be one of those opted to come at another time.

Even if I were there with an appointment; a heads-up is ALWAYS greatly appreciated.

Thanks for asking. Its 8pm here, I just got home 15 minutes ago. I got off at 7:30. Our last patients left at 6:30. We had about 30 minutes for lunch. I'm dead on my feet. But came home to E making me an awesome dinner and a clean house so I'm very grateful.

But we did $16820 today and I sold 2 sun glasses and 10 regular glasses.

And all our patients were super nice. I didn't put a sign up but I did tell every one and they were all super cool about it. I didn't have any leave to come back later. Which was nice.

Glad it went well. Long busy days are always a little easier to bear when clients are patient and numbers are up. Hope you get lots of relaxation this weekend!!
