Morning Road Report

Hope you don't have to go out, but if you do...post your road report.

I drove from SE Aurora to Children's/Fitzsimons Campus and the roads were TERRIBLE.  Alameda, Airport, and 6th Ave looked like it hadnt been plowed in several hours.  Colfax was a little bit better, but still very slick!  I encountered 3 abandoned cars on the side streets (Jewell (out near 470) that couldn't make it up the hills.

Drive carefully nesties!

no identifiable siggy pictures anymore, thanks a lot stupid nest!

Re: Morning Road Report

  • This is what I will never understand about Denver- we KNEW there was snow coming, so why aren't plows and road crews out there keeping up with it?
  • its a work at home day for me (wink, wink) but dh had to drive from Arvada to Loveland and he said it wasn't all that bad.  It only took him an extra 15 minutes.  Of course this is mostly highway driving

No kidding...J and I finished Christmas shopping around 9:30 at SWP and it took us an hour to get up 285 and home.  The main road off 285 to our street was not plowed at all and neither was our street, we barely made it home in FWD 4cyl cars.

  • My drive wasn't bad.  38th Ave was plowed and you could see the road.  The side streets weren't plowed and due to the snow pile up I wasn't going to try some of them in my car as I'd get stuck.

But honestly - slow and steady and I don't see a problem.

  • We have 18 inches, so no one is out in our hood. Until the plows come by, it is high center city.

  • Dh drives from Arvada to Littleton. Usually he would have been at work 40 minutes ago and right now he is only half way there. He said I-70 and 470 had a lot of accidents. 285 looks like it hasn't been plowed in a few hours and people were spinning out. We libe on a snow route and our street isn't even plowed yet, DH said the neighbors SUV was stuck when he left.

  • My drive was not that bad.  I came from Dry Creek & Holly to Glendale.  It was a little slow, but nothing unbearable at all!
  • FoCo isn't terrible. Took me almost 10 extra minutes. Slushy in spots, but they're out in full force plowing. I passed four trucks just on my way into work.

  • E470 wasn't bad.  Both Parker and Arapahoe SUCKED!

That doesn't surprise me at all!  Glad you're safe!

  • It wasn't too terrible. I think it helps that a lot of people are off today and schools are already closed for the winter breaks. You could tell the plows are behind - as usual. What kills me is how people seem to forget how many lanes are on each road. You probably drive this road everyday, it isn't that hard to remember there are two lanes on Evans - not ONE!
  • SE side:  Parker Road & E470 were okay in my dads truck, but I was glad not to be in the Prius since we saw SUVs sliding.

At C470 and I-25 there was a snowplow in the ditch getting towed out Indifferent

Wads in Littleton was pretty slick, and it's hilly that most cars are going to have a tough time.  Saw more cars in the ditch, so...

    Stay home if you can!

They must wait until after I'm at school, then.  It was shiittastic for us and full of idiots.

  • I came downtown from Lakewood, and it didn't take me any extra time. Garrison was good and 6th was slow and steady. I also waited until 8:30 to leave. The snow got more "shifty" and powdery closer to downtown, it seemed way wetter west of town.

I think I actually prefer the non-plowed or lightly plowed streets to the ones they have taken down nearly to the pavement. At least I know how the snowpacked road is going to react, I can't tell whether the heavily plowed one is icy or fine.

They may actually not be plowing heavily in order to prevent more slick conditions too (or they may just be behind).

  • we're driving from henderson to cherry creek to get the last christmas gift (this is our only free time to do it), i-76 west is crap ans doesn't look like itks barely been plowed.  hwy-85 south towards colorado isn't much better.  at least dh is driving, i hate driving in snow.
  • I just took dd to daycare so I could work from home and the side streets I took were not too bad. I don't know if I could have gotten out of my neighborhood in a small car though.
  • I couldnt figure out how everyone was getting to work until I made the trip myself.  Stapleton got tons of snow but it really gets progressively better as you make your way downtown.

My biggest problem was that our alley had about 3+ feet of snow so I had to shovel that to get out (after DH's car got stuck).

  • Just got into work 10 minutes ago.  Neighborhoods were horrific and unplowed.....no cars go out, only higher clearance SUVs.  (And my supah-star CRV)  Lincoln Avenue and I-25 were pretty good -- left land was mostly clear on I-25 but middle lanes were looking dicey with that slick loose powder.  Dry Creek was okay.  Not looking forward to the drive home.

  • When we went to PetCo at 11:00 this morning, SB I-25 from Belleview - Dry Creek hadn't even been plowed.  WTF?!?
