Can I get the recipe for beer bread from you? Sounds heavenly!

Re: ::UDScooby::

    • 3 cups self-rising flour
    • 1/4 cup brown sugar
    • 1 teaspoon baking powder
    • 1/2 teaspoon salt
    • 1/2 teaspoon onion powder
    • 3/4 teaspoon Italian seasoning
    • 1 (12 fluid ounce) bottle beer
    • 1/4 cup butter or margarine, melted

    Mix together the dry ingredients.  Pour in the beer, and mix until just combined.  Pour into a greased 9x5" loaf pan.  Pour melted butter over the top.  Bake 45-55 min at 375*F, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.

    That's a savory version...if you want a sweeter one, leave out the onion powder and Italian seasoning, and increase the brown sugar to 1/3 c.  Enjoy!

  • Sounds delish!  What kind of beer do you recommend?

  • I think just about any kind will work...I'm not a beer drinker, myself.  Blue Moon has some sort of winter beer out right now, so I got that to make it seasonal.
  • I made this for dinner tonight and it was a hit! Thank you, Scooby. :)
