People duck hunt on some nearby land and it seems like it's every morning that they're out there. Finn spends the better part of the morning wedged under my desk, sitting on my feet with his head in my lap, jumping at every boom. Such a scaredy-dog!

Re: My dog is lame
What kind of dog is he?
My horses have deer hunters in the woods and they still crap themselves (literally) and run around the field like morons every time a shot goes off closer than a mile.
At the same time I had a chinchilla that would willing take on 3 of my H's mom's standard poodles before he moved out with her, and they were terrified of the little thing.
Sometimes the big ones are the wimpy ones.
He's a Brittany - they are literally bred to bird hunt, lol.
The weird thing is, H took him duck hunting once and he was PERFECT. Didn't flinch at the gun, didn't run after birds, etc. For some reason it's being inside the house where he can't see the source of the noise - he freaks out about thunder too, and it's a similar booming noise, that's all I can think of.
My hound mix is like this too. She's terrified of fireworks. Taking her for a walk around the 4th of July or New Year's Eve is awful. She'll plant her feet and refuse to turn down a street for months if she's so much as seen a sparkler in its vicinity. I won't take her out late at night on the actual holidays, but it's hard to predict how many nights the neighbors feel like setting those things off.
I want a dog who is smart enough to be scared of gunfire.
We saw a family of bears on our walk the other day. The dog was the last one to notice, after my drunk neighbor pointed it out.
LOL!
Ziti, that's sweet of you to take care of the pup!
Heaven forbid!
If that were the case, the title of the post would have been: "My H took the week off and cancelled Christmas because my dog is lame".
Poor baby.
My sister had a dog that was scared of the dark. We had to put a night light on his dog house or he'd whimper.
