I'm getting so frustrated. NSOR

I have had this lip/tounge irritation for going on two months now. I have had four different doctors look at it. I have tried so many different creams/mouth washes and nobody can tell me what it is. There isn't any visible sore or lesions it just burns when I brush my teeth or eat anything spicy or citric. I finally set up a referral with a specialist for next week so hopefully he has some clue of how to fix it. If he doesn't, I might cut my head off. I'm going crazy. *Rant over*

  • I'm sorry, Ninja; I can imagine your frustration. Could it be an allergy of some sort?

I have been racking my brain thinking about if I have changed anything lately. I am on no new meds, I haven't ate any different foods, I haven't changed my toothpaste. I always end up with the weird medical problems nobody has an answer to lol why can't I just be a textbook case?

  • I have what is called a geographical tongue.  And I have a lot of the same irritations that you have.  There's really nothing that can be done about it, but maybe worth looking into so that you would at least know what it is.

BTW, if you google image geographical tongue...it's gross...mine isn't quiet that gross, but people have noticed that i have a "weird" tongue in the past!

Crazy. I hope the specialist can tell you something.

I have seen a patient with one before and it is crazy looking!

  • Ugh, mouth stuff is the worst!  I used to get canker sores from eating too much pineapple or fruit salad and remember how painful it was :(

  • Have you ever tried natural toothpaste without fluoride and SLS?

No, but at this point I am willing to try anything!

  • Ever tried Biotene?  Xerostomia can present in about a million ways, and that seems to be what DakotaDangerDog is suggesting as well.  Other than infection, I don't have a clue.  Sounds sucky, whatever it is.  Hope you get some answers :)
