Has anyone ever been here? I'm going in a week and we're staying in the Port of Spain for 5 days. Need recommendations on:
- Sightseeing
- Best Beaches?
- Restaurants?
- Must do's on Trinidad or Tobago islands?
Thanks in advance! (Also - I heard it was illegal to wear camoflague. Are there any other weird requirements or local things I need to know?)
Re: Trinidad and Tobago?
Until recently they had a very strict curfew in PoS. I think it was lifted in November, but you may want to double check as it could affect your evening activities.
I haven't been, but my husband and FIL both go there for work and seem to enjoy it. I'll ask if they have any restaurant recommendations.
That would be great. Please let me know if they have any recommendations or stuff I must do while there.
I'll also look into the curfew thing - that would be no bueno!
Thanks!
Looks like the curfew was called off in early November. Let's hope it stays off for a while:

But all this is making me wonder - is it safe for travelers to wander around? I'll be in a group with guys, so I'm not worried about that, I guess it's more of a general safety question.
Interesting. I just called our hotel and arranged for a shuttle to pick us up at the airport so we don't have to worry about it once we get there. I also just talked to our conceirge person. She made me feel a lot better.
Taffy - do you remember the name of the Indian restaurant?? We LOVE Indian food!
I don't, I do remember it was out of town a little bit. I'll try to find out from one of the other f/as I was flying with,
Also the nicest hotel in our system is in POS.
What hotel is that?
We're staying at the Hyatt right on the water.
The last time I went to Trini was 15 years ago, so things have changed.
I do remember that pretty much everywhere there were multiple (divy) roti restaurants. OMG, what I would do for good roti.
Or satay potatoes.
Or conch and dumplings.
I'm slobbering.
Enjoy!
(Also, try to go to a zouk/soca concert if you can!)
I believe thats the one! The showers are AMAZING! The only downside is the bathroom is wide open. Meaning if your dh is in the bedroom watching tv he can also watch you shower. Conversly you can watch tv while showering!
They greet us with champagne when we check in. Which is awkward since we can't drink in uniform. I usually run up to my room, change and run back down. Yes, I'm a lush.
