Wyatt's 12 month appointment

Wyatt got his 12 month shots yesterday, and got weighed, measured and all that...

He weighs 18lbs 4oz, and is 29.5 inches long. He is below the 1st % for weight, and is in the 42nd % for height... and we're being sent back to our doctor for more tests and a possible referral to a pediatrician.

He's only gained 1oz since I dropped in and weighed him in September, but he has shot up almost 2 inches. Personally I think he's fine... just crazy active and  burning all of his calories. It's not like he's not growing, he just isn't gaining weight. sigh.

As for his needles, they went okay. He screamed and squirmed for a good long time before we held him down long enough, and she commented on how he has absolutely nothing but muscle all throughout his body. He was mortified afterwards, but the moment she brought a toothbrush out for him he was perfectly happy. Today he is miserable, but we'll live.

I'm so beyond frustrated with this weight issue I could scream. If he had been born 6lbs, we wouldn't have this problem... sure he's small for his age, but he is perfectly healthy!! I don't understand why they can't seem to look past his birth weight and leave him be.

Re: Wyatt's 12 month appointment

  • Parker was 24 pounds at his 9 month appointment and 23 at his 15 month appointment.  He went from 27.5" to 32".  Personally, I wouldn't worry about it yet.
