What is your traditional Christmas Day dinner?
I was talking to a friend today and they have a Mexican feast on Christmas day... it works for them because it's buffet style and people can come and go. It got me thinking about what others do.
We pretty much duplicate Thanksgiving because we never get to have Thanksgiving at home and we love the food... and the leftovers. Just curious what everyone eats on Christmas Day.
Re: What is your traditional Christmas Day dinner?
We don't always do a special dinner, but we always have overnight French Toast (from my family tradition) and Tamales (from DH's family tradition) on Christmas morning for breakfast. The tamales are for making sure you always have something to unwrap in case you don't get presents.
If we do a fancy dinner it's usually a spiral ham.

Christmas morning - monkey bread, pigs in blankets, coffee and juice
Christmas day - appetizers vary but this year I'm trying the jalapeno bacon poppers I posted to Pinterest, veggie tray, summer sausage and cheese snack tray with crackers. leftover crack dip if there is any. There are only 5 of us. =D
Christmas dinner - Honeybaked ham, MIL's pineapple dressing, broccoli tomato salad, greenbean casserole (DH request).

My family is Argentinia/Italian/Colombian and we kind of mix our own traditional Latin meal with our traditional American meal.
Argentinian/Italian side (mom's)
We are having prime rib w/ horseradish cream and mushroom/onion ajou.
roasted sweet/russet potatoes, stuffing, Turkey, beans, rice, salad... hmmmm... looks like we may need a veggie or two and maybe a pasta dish.
Dulce de leche cheese cake, flan cake, oreo truffles(MrsFaz kicks arse!!!)
Colombian side (dad's)
Pork & rice dish

MrsFaz is making cauliflower mash
I'm making asparagus, not sure how
salad

Goode Company Pecan Pie
We do ours on Christmas Eve. We change up some desserts and sides, bu these are on the menu every year.
Boiled Shrimp
Swedish Meatballs
Dill New Potatoes
Ham or Smoked Turkey
Tamales
Norwegian ricecream with raspberry sauce
We duplicate Thanksgiving dinner, too
We have a huge family/friends get together at my parents' house (now just my mom), and we have:
Turkey, with the addition of smoked turkey this year
Sweet potato casserole
Mashed potatoes
Green bean casserole
Oyster casserole
Cranberry sauce (I'm making it this year; the real stuff with fresh cranberries and oranges)
Desserts (we're in charge of that, too)
On Christmas morning, we went over to my parents' house as well; this year, Mom will be coing over here, and we'll do our traditional morning breakfast:
Monkey bread coffee cake (MY FAVE)
Eggs
Bacon
Fruit
Coffee
It is always different. We host Christmas Eve and are doing a pork dish with roasted veggies, mac and cheese for the kids, corn casserole, and beer bread this year.
For Christmas day we usually go to my mom's house and she does the traditional turkey. This year we are staying home though and my husband is grilling steaks, baked potatoes, and corn on the cob. YUM.
