Help me figure this out (lunch location related)

BFF & co. will be here next Friday.  I plan on calling in sick to work that day because they want to go to the outlets in Leesburg.  After that we want to go check out the sights by the White House.

After the outlets - we'll want to grab lunch.  I'm not that familiar with the area at all, so where should we go?  It can be by the outlets, away from the outlets, on the way into DC, it doesn't really matter, just not by the WH - they've eaten at a couple places down there already.

We don't want to spend a ton (under $60-70 for 3.5 people) and it has to be kid friendly.

Bonus question - is Williams-Sonoma still out there?  I remember one store closing closing, but I think that was Crate & Barrel.

Extra bonus question - will the trees/holiday crap even still be up in the Ellipse on the 30th?

Re: Help me figure this out (lunch location related)

  • Right at the outlets there is TGI Fridays and Panera.  Down the street is Blue Ridge Grill (yummy), Eggspectations, and Ruby Tuesdays.  Or you can drive down to Dulles Town Center Mall and where there are a bunch of restaurants around the mall.

I'm not sure about W&S, but Crate & Barrel is gone.

  • Williams Sonoma is still there (C&B closed).

There are tons of places in between the oulets and the WH, LOL.  If you are coming out via Rt 7 you can stop in Tyson's, Sterling or go past the outlets to Leesburg.

In Tysons, Cafe Deluxe is a good choice, Coastal Flats, Brio, PF Chang's, Legal Seafoods, Gordon Beirsch, La Madeliene, Lebanese Taverna, Wildfire.  There are lots of restaurants in Tyson's.

In Sterling at the mall is Cheescake Factory, PF Chang's, and the other usual chains (Red Lobster, Macaroni Grill, Red Robin, etc.).  Hooked is YUMMY - sushi and other seafood and kid-friendly.  I just took my 3 yo and 15 month old there and the mac-n-cheese is so, so good.  There's also Outback and Don Pablo's in the same shopping center.  Los Toltecos is a good local chain Mexican place.  A new burger place, BGR, just opened up which is pretty good.  In the same shopping center as BGR there is a Corner Barkery, Noodles & Co, Famous Dave's and Mahalo.

The outlets have a food court and also a Panera and I think a bunch of other chain-type restaurants around it.

Leesburg has a bunch of really good restaurants, but it is further west, so not on your way.

I guess it just depends on what type of food you are looking for.  Reston and Ashburn have some good restaurants too and may be an option if you come out the Toll Rd.

  • How are you getting from Leesburg to the WH? I would think the greenway...if so then you'd probably want to eat around the outlet mall so you can just hop on and be on your way.

I would also suggest Blue Ridge Grill, its pretty basic American food but its good.

I'm not entirely sure.  Whatever way my gps takes us :)  Thats why I wanted a couple options, so as we're driving we can be on the lookout!

  • Blue Ridge Grill.  Definitely.  Good food, not a chain restaurant and right by the outlets.  Also reasonable prices, good service and kid-friendly.  I would do that rather than stopping off somewhere on the way.  Plus I would steer clear of Dulles Town Center and Tysons just because the malls will be pretty crowded.

  • I recommend Fireworks Pizza. It is some of the best pizza I ever had. Its wood fired and the ingredients are locally sourced which makes it delicious if not healthy. Kids are welcome but it does not scream family place. In fact it has a very expansive beer menu.
