I just saw about your foot! I JUST recovered from a foot injury. I had to take 6 weeks off. It sucked! What helped me was continually taking ibuprofen for a while to get rid of the inflammation. What did they say was wrong with your foot? I've learned so much about foot injuries through all of this!

6 weeks?? Ick, what was wrong with your foot?
I had x-rays done, the doctor thought it could be a stress fracture. The x-rays came back normal. I'm not really sure what it could be. I'm not too happy with my doctor. I didn't hear back for a couple days about the x-rays so I emailed the nurse. She said they were normal. I feel like my doctor (or the nurse) should have called and told me about the x-rays and either told me what else it could be and what I should do about it or have me come back in for a follow up. I guess I'm going to go to a running store early next week and find a new pair of running shoes. I think I'll mention my foot problem to them and see what they think. I might try running in the new shoes and see what happens. If running still causes pain then I think I'll schedule an appointment with a sports medicine/injury doctor I know and see what he thinks.
I've been icing it each night and taking some advil. It's a little swollen but not too much. And it doesn't hurt constantly, it only hurts during and for the couple days after a run. It's just frustrating because it's not unbearable pain, just annoying. I want to just push through the pain, but it seems to get a little worse with each run and I'd hate to cause a more major injury.

Where on your foot does it hurt? Idk if your doctor told you this or not, but stress fractures don't always show up on an x-ray. I go to an orthopedist in Norman. We suspected stress fracture at first but it turned out to be a really inflamed case of plantar fasciitis. I think it was caused by "runners knots" that I had in my leg from running long distance. It took the constant anti inflammatories, physical therapy stretches, and lots of massage to get the knots out. It sucked but I'm running again!

I was thinking about bone spurs too, Wendy.... Would that have shown up on an x-ray?
I watched a youtube video on how to tell if you have a stress fracture.

I got a stress fracture in my lower back once... They aren't fun at all!
I think it's possible not to. My brother in law just had surgery on his foot and they thought it was all a lack of cartilage issue, but when they got into the surgery they found he had a bone spur too. I would assume he had X-rays and/or MRIs prior to having the surgery.
