Poll about food

If you were going to cook a romantic dinner what would be on the menu?

Re: Poll about food

  • Something heavy like pasta or another comfort food.  And wine.  Lots of wine.

I couldn't see having mexican, burgers, or salads as a romantic meal.

Wine would be the main course if I had a say in it. Haha

  • seafood .... most likely scallops in a cream white wine sauce

but for valentines day (yes ladies I'm planning ahead) it's all about my kids so I'm making all food in heart shaped pieces (heart shaped garlic bread, chicken or maybe ham steak since it's easier to cut in a heart, with heart shaped noddles ... need some help on veggie ideas) with heart shaped fruit on a kabob

This sounds so fun! Fruit kabobs rock. I am definitely going to do fruit and maybe angel food cake with chocolate dipping sauce.

  • Seafood/pasta...probably scallops or crab cakes...

  • Hmm...I was thinking something not too heavy and not cause heartburn if you want "desserts" afterwards.  I would avoid a lot of garlic and onions as well to avoid bad breath.

Maybe something along the lines of scampi with a fancy green salad or usually steaks along with king crabs fares very well with the men.

  • Wine and whip cream... that's it. Big Smile I'm horny and I won't see D for a week dammit.
  • Steak of some sort.  My dad makes filet mignon with a whiskey glaze and a peppercorn cream sauce that you serve over garlic bread.  It's fabulous!  Or some sort of steak Oscar (topped with crab and hollendaise sauce or a bernaise sauce).  With roasted broccoli or roasted green beans and shallots for the veggie...I adore roasted veggies.  And lots of wine.
  • To me a romantic dinner is something not too filling so that I won't feel like a lump after dinner--want to be able to get down to business without feeling like I'm going to puke.  No garlic or anything spicy.  Maybe steak with veggies like Scooby suggested...and wine, always wine!

    Cook?  No, no, no.

Get sushi takeout.  Have a picnic on the floor.  Feed each other.  Drink copious amounts of sake.  Giggle a lot.  MCC's right.  You don't want to be too full.

    You're welcome.

So we beat on, boats against the current, borne back ceaselessly into the past.

  • I love all these answers. I definitely want to do a floor picnic with candles. I was planning on doing it tonight but I might wait until after the holiday weekend because I just found out SO got the day off tomorrow so we might leave a day early.

  • WELLLLLL...I saw this amazing steak the other night that looked yum.  It was a ribeye and they topped it with blue cheese dressing AND blue cheese crumbles, and then french fried onions.  Looked heavenly.

Then I would do either roasted red potatoes or garlic mashed, and a vegetable roasted in olive oil such as asapargus or sauteed green beens with garlic and butter.

A nice, simple green salad on the side.

Then, of course, a red wine to go with the steak (I suck at wine pairing but I'm sure you could Google it or something).

Then for dessert, chocolate bomb cake or something along those lines!

  • A nice steak, probably like a filet...with roasted rosemary potatoes, and steamed broccoli.  No appetizer really needed.  Wine, lots of wine.  And tiramisu for dessert.

  • Steak, mashed potatoes and mushrooms

    And wine
