Airfare NYC-> Turkey

Hi, We're looking to travel to Turkey (Istanbul and Cappadocia) next August.  Can anyone suggest what a reasonable airfare price would be?  Also, how far in advance did you book if you've made a similar trip?

Re: Airfare NYC-> Turkey

  • We paid around $750 RT from Boston and I think prices were similar from NY (we checked prices from there too). That was in January and I think we booked last Sept-Oct. We LOVED everything about Turkey- definitely one of our favorite places. I highly recommend the Kelebek Hotel in Goreme- loved that place! We can't wait to go back. Have fun!
  • August will be much more expensive. RT tickets to IST from Chicago are usually around $1500 around that time. But you might be able to find better deals connecting in Europe. Maybe you can sign up for the Turkish Airlines newsletter so you're aware of any sales they may be having? A month or two in advance is probably sufficient, unless you see a really good sale. We just went in November for $525/ticket, round-trip, direct from Chicago, and we booked in May.

    If you have any flexibility in your travel plans at all, I'd recommend going in late September or early October instead. The tickets will be much cheaper and the weather won't be as hot. I know that is much easier said than done, though.

    I ditto the Kelebek hotel, and I also recommend doing a hot air balloon ride in Cappadocia. A little pricey, but amazing!
