Are holiday/Cmas cards becoming a thing of the past?
We have received a fraction of what we did last year and not a single one from anyone in my family...on either side. We aren't sending them b/c we are doing birth announcements in a couple months but we always send SOMETHING during the holidays.

Re: Are holiday/Cmas cards becoming a thing of the past?
I have a fridge covered in them. But it did seem like a lot of people mailed them later this year and most of them are from friends rather than family.
Maybe since they haven't gotten one from you they aren't sending you one. We still sent them last year even though we were sending out birth announcements a month later.
I think it's because people in general are cutting costs.
We've gotten a lot from friends with kids, one e-mail card and a couple hand delivered with yummy treat ones. Not a lot from the older generation (aunts/uncles).
TTC #1 since 08/11 IUI#2 = BFP!
Not over here, it's like a pissing contest between my friends. And I totally won this year
Or so I think. Thanks jennied!!
I haven't noticed a decline in cards, I see the same people sending them out year after year. But I would guess the recession would have a lot to do with seeing less since they do end up being expensive.
thanks to jennied
I was wondering the same thing! I was so excited to use my card tree this year and I have only gotten about 5 or 6 cards! I don't send them, but right now it is just DH and I so I figure nobody cares what we have going on, or to have a picture of just us!! Lol...once we have kids, it will be a different story!
Ditto Jamie, I keep track also. Last year we did around 100, this year it was right at around 80. We have sent cards out since we started living together in 2002, it's always been some funny picture of us & athena or us on vacation. Maybe next year I will write a letter. I did write my parents letter for them if that counts. I LOve getting cards especially picture ones. Lyra and I look at everyone's pictures and point out all the kiddos everyday.
And I still crack up that Mandy&Cory's daughter a few years back kept saying she wanted to come to my house to play after seeing our card. We must have looked super cool that year.
We haven't recieved as many this year either. Sad.
