  • Wonder if she'll crack the Oscar top five.  I doubt it.  I want to see this movie when it comes out on video.

  • I'm dying to see this, BUT

    *possible spolier alert*

I'm a little worried about the rape scene...I generally have a hard time with these in movies...

  • I was watching the original again today.

Worried Daniel Craig will ruin the remake for me but I'm a fan of Fincher so I will give it a shot

  • I loved it. Rooney Mara is the shizz. Oscar nod for sure.
  • I have heard really great things.  I was really disturbed by the book, so I'm fairly aware of what's gonna happen.  I liked the Swedish version okay but wasn't into the male lead.  Hopefully, this version will do the character more justice.  And I've heard Rooney did a great job.  Good for her.

You will want to close your eyes and plug your ears. It is quite bad and disturbing.

Honestly, I felt like that and other sexual things were too much of the driving force in the movie. I liked the books for the political/financial/journalism/crime aspect, but I felt that was overshadowed by the sexual encounters in the movie. I didn't enjoy the movie.

    and another possible spoiler

I really could have done without such a long and close-up shot of the cat Sad

  • I read the books, and watches the foreign movie, and I found myself bored.  I knew what would happen and it spoiled it.  I think because it is a suspense, when you know the end, it is kind of ruined

I was worried about that scene too and strategically planned a bathroom break during it...I'm glad I did, DH had a hard time with it. Otherwise though I'm really glad I saw the movie, I agree that Rooney did a fantastic job!

  • I actually liked this version better than the Swedish version.  I think the casting was perfect and really fit who I pictured when I'd read the book (and they all did a great job with the characters IMO).  They did a great job at really sticking to the book and though the few scenes already mentioned were indeed very difficult to watch, that's how it happened in the book, so I expected it.

  • It was terribly dark and disturbing, of course. The rape scene was hard for me - I felt like I was going to be ill. And the close-ups of the poor cat, who I'd fallen in love with and forgotten the fate of, were terrible - I covered my eyes. But I knew it was a twisted story, and it stayed pretty darn true to the books.

I thought the cast was excellent and the movie was really well done. I've warned my husband that I'll probably have nightmares, since I just saw the movie tonight, but I'm so glad I saw it. I can't wait for the next movie to come out now.

  • I just saw it. I read the book so I expected the disturbing scenes but...it's different when it's visually played out rather than being read. It was disturbing. I enjoyed the movie, though, and I liked the casting of Daniel Craig and Rooney Mara. She did a phenomenal job.

This exactly, I thought it was incredibly well done, even though parts of it were difficult to watch. I am looking forward to the rest of the series.
